I choose Purina One Healthy Weight.

First ingredient is Turkey.
40% protein content.

Not affected by the recalls at all.

Better price/similar ingredients than the "boutique" brands (Nutro, etc...).

What about you?

Hills Science Diet M/D for weight loss per vet's prescription. One of my cats came to me overweight and we're still working to trim him down.

I used to feed my cat's science diet, until i read the package.

I'm sure the prescription version is better.

When Unipride had kittens, she fed them all the purina kitten chicken & rice food. So when I took two of them, they continued on the purina kitten food. When they got a little older they were on purina adult cat chicken & rice. Now that one of them is a little heavy, he is on the purina weight management for weight loss, but if need be there’s always the prescription strength OM purina cat food. I've always stuck with the same company in hopes that it'll be the smallest change possible when I have to switch foods, and I think its worked b/c they've rarely vomited as a result.

"Hills Science Diet M/D for weight loss per vet's prescription"

I know M/D is sometimes used for fat cats, but I was under the impression it was mostly for diabetic cats. I know there’s hills sci diet r/d a weight Reduction Diet, and hills sci diet w/d a Weight maintenance Diet. I seem to remember hills M/D for cats, atleast in the dry form, being a recalled item for a time.

Quote :
"In accordance with its over-riding commitment to pet health and well-being, Hill's Pet Nutrition, Inc. is voluntarily recalling Prescription Diet m/d Feline dry food from the market. Hill's is taking this precautionary action because during a two-month period in early 2007, wheat gluten for this product was provided by a company that also supplied wheat gluten to Menu Foods. U.S. Food and Drug Administration tests of wheat gluten samples from this period show the presence of a small amount of melamine. Prescription Diet m/d Feline Dry represents less than one half of one percent of all Hill's products.

Hill's Science Diet Savory Cuts Feline canned cat foods, manufactured by Menu Foods, were previously withdrawn from the market as a precaution.
"

It's okay that our food is recalled, we barely sell this type anyways!

We were doing the Purina Cat Chow Indoor Formula, but it made one of them start throwing up every day. We tried regular Purina...they wouldnt eat it. We tried expensive kinds like Science Diet and Iams but they wouldn't touch it. We tried mixing it in with the old food, but they wouldn't touch that either. So, finally we decided to try cheaper stuff and they settled on Meow Mix.
