Compare this with Bush claiming executive privilege for damn near everything he pleases these days.7/20/2007 10:52:32 PM |

US Attorneys work for the executive branch. 7/21/2007 9:02:37 AM |

Right. Had Bush proclaimed he was firing them for political reasons then everything would have been fine, no need for investigations to determine if they were fired for political reasons.
They work for him, he can fire them for whatever reason his sick/twisted mind comes up with. What everyone is upset about is the apparent cover-up. 7/21/2007 9:26:54 AM |

Will the neocon trifecta be complete? Will the men bush wanted installed in the SC rule in his favor, effectively making him a dictator? If that were to happen, would the Democrats have the balls to impeach?

I just don't get how this shit continues to always fall on party lines. The two parties as is are so close ideologically, that it makes basic sense that you would see defectors to one side of the issue or the other from time to time. 7/25/2007 4:06:17 PM |

I sure am glad that there is nothing of more importance to be done in Washington than to go mucking around on political fishing expeditions and pissing pants over absolutely nothing. Man, these Democrats sure are getting to the heart of what needs to be done to help the US, aren't they? I mean, it's really important to go snooping around trying to find out what everyone already knows: the attorneys were fired for political reasons.
The bullshit is that even if Congress "proves" that the attorneys were fired for political reasons, there is NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. It's one big fucking waste of time! WHO FUCKING CARES?
And they get all indignant that the aides won't show up. Well, no fucking wonder they aren't showing up. It's a fucking fishing expedition, and Congress is WAY beyond it's authority in asking about something as menial and benign as this. It really IS an invasion of the executive branch's, for lack of a better word, "privacy" to go asking aides about this kind of shit.
From the article:
Quote : | "Democrats countered that under Fielding's proposal, the officials would not be under oath and there would be no transcript." |
*cough*ScooterLibby*cough* That's the brunt of it right there. The fucking democrats want to have someone under oath so they can pull the bullshit move of just trying to catch someone misspeaking. They know they can't prove any wrongdoing, since none occurred. They just want to create wrongdoing. It's the same bullshit that the republicans did to Clinton.
Meanwhile, we've got a crisis with Social Security looming, we've got a fucked up legal system where wealth determines guilt or innocence, we've got a malfunctioning FDA and exorbitantly priced health care system, we've got an immigration nightmare which NO ONE wants to address correctly, we've got products being shipped in from China which plainly and simply AREN'T SAFE (but we can't import safe and cheap prescription drugs from Canada, go figure)... But Congress is focused on "investigating" why Dubya did something that he is totally allowed to do.7/25/2007 9:34:08 PM |

So the highest ranking member of the law in our country shouldn't be investigated when he lies? I don't want some dickbag like this advising the President. Obviously, the Prez can get who he wants, but as an investor in this country, if he picks someone as shitty as AG, then I want a voice to say he has to pick someone else.

Wait, so is it Congress in whole or just the Democrats? You're pissy at the Democrats only for "muckracking", when the Repubs are the ones that have done it for years?
I mean, I agree with you that all politicians suck. It just seems like 50% of your post content is hating on all of them, and the other 50% is targeting the Dems so that you can troll the liberals here.

Well, it's the democrats who are doing it right now, dumbass. And, if you could take your selective reading off for a minute and look up 2 sentences, you'll note that I slammed the pubs for doing basically the same thing to Clinton. Besides, the point is that we've got all of these other crises RIGHT NOW, but RIGHT NOW the stupid democrats are playing politics as usual. at least when the pubs were in power under dubya they did a little more than "investigate" lawful actions...

Well, when the lie is created via shittons of useless "investigations," then sure, I'd say we can overlook it. WHen the purpose of an investigation is to create a lie, I say that the investigators should shut the fuck up7/26/2007 10:18:51 PM |
