Should I expect to pay $20 for 100ft?

I checked monoprice.com and their shipping is a killer.

1000 ft spool of CAT 5, Networking Cable - $45

2 RJ-45 heads, i think this should run you about 90 cents from Intrex

Borrow someone's crimper. Or if you're a member of , go buy one, use it twice, and return it.

i'm baffled at why you would suggest something more than DOUBLE in price for way more than he needs.

100ft cat6e for $17.50:

selling cable - work
shipping cable - more work
buying rj-45 heads - more work
finding someone with a crimper - more work
crimping - more work

all to save a measly $7.50

100ft on ebay - only $13.50

also cat6e>cat5

Cabling is not that much work ... takes a few minutes at maximum slowness ... far less time than filling out rebate forms

But you're right, it may not be worth it if you can find cheap 100ft rolls.

i didn't say it was hard work, but it is time consuming to re-sell stuff.

ok, well if someone wants to save $3.50 by reselling the excess cable and by making their own cable, by all means.

theres a place called data and telephone supply co and its located right by the fairgrounds. i'm sure it'll be cheaper there than shipped from most internet sites. sometimes you can find cable for cheap at tiger direct...but i wouldnt count on finding an inexpensive 100ft cable there

If you get bulk cable, I have a crimper and tons of RJ-45 connectors that you can borrow. I know par0d0xe had a box of cable that he offered to sell me on the cheap a couple weeks ago, but I didn't have any use for it. PM him or check his thread -
