I don't want to do paypal and get raped. Anyone have any experience with any other vendor? Prices? 8/8/2007 10:50:05 PM |

uh, paypal merchant accounts have the lowest rates other than Nova through Costco, and even then it's only like .2% difference.
Costco merchent accounts are like 1.79% + monthly fee + 5c a transaction I think Paypal starts at like 2.1%, no monthly +7c and goes down by volume for their business accounts. I think. I did a lot of research in setting up the last ecommerce site I did, paypal was the most painless, quick to setup and offered a wide range of backend and API features. 8/8/2007 10:55:00 PM |

PayPal looks to be your easiest / best bet, but seriously, they froze like $1500 on me once for 2 months before I finally *luckily* got it back.
Wouldn't recommend it... 8/9/2007 12:23:00 AM |

What types of payments are you looking to do? Subscription, increasing/decreasing over time with upgrades, one time payments?
I use paypal, but there is no real good solution if you offer upgrades, and regularly changing payment prices for the service, such as one system I had to set up...
Amazon also recently opened up a payment system that ties in to peoples amazon accounts.
FWIW, I like and use paypal right now. 8/9/2007 12:18:55 PM |

we're using Authorize.net because the rates are very good and it integrates with our web store system very easily. 8/9/2007 12:45:28 PM |

Ok, what i need is the ability to accept a payment from someone. It's not something that the end user would do, but, over the phone, I would take their credit card number and punch it in to my web form and me get the money.
The user could also do this.
I would rather them not have to have an account with another place because then I couldn't accept the transaction via telephone. 8/9/2007 3:41:15 PM |
