I'm getting pretty excited about the new season since it does start in less than a month. Tickets should be coming in the mail soon. Looks like I'll be going to seven games this year. I'm gonna skip the crap games that Clemson scheduled this year (Lou-Monroe, Furman, Central Michigan). I predict an 8-4 schedule if the quaterback situation can be resolved early on but I would like Korn to play most of the season since he is the future.

I think the entire season comes down to this for the Tigers. If it doesn't get solved then they probably will be .500. The only losses I do see are GT, VT, BC, and SC. FSU I still believe is on a downward spiral to mediocrity and Maryland won't be as good as what people think.

Anyone who watched Clemson last year knows that their strength was the OL, didn't they lose like 6 off the 10 man two deep and 4 of the 5 starters???

Clemson lost three or four starters from the Oline but honestly I think with the offensive system they run the Oline will be fine. Clemson fell apart in the second half of last season because of Proctor's (the old QB) inability to the run the offense effectively once teams started stacking the box and eliminating the running game.

Just got back to Statesville and I'll be making my way back to Raleigh in a minute. Glad to see Clemson get the win no matter if it was ugly or not. Both teams defenses are good. Clemson may have lost Gaines Adams (and Rashaad Jackson at some point during the game) but we constantly got pressure on Weatherford and pretty much held them in check except for that nice 40 yard run. Florida State finally got through the Clemson O-line in the second half and pretty much made Harper throw after taking out the running game. Clemson showed they had the speed and talent with two of their TDs (Kelly 41 yard TD and Davis TD run) that FSU said wouldn't be able to keep up with them. Both teams had what I expected as first game jitters. Clemson's kicking game improved in every way (Buchholz looks great but terrible last name) except for the dreadful punting team. If anyone remembers last years Clemson win in Tallahassee, the Tigers kicking game gave FSU two TDs. FSU's discipline problems haven't improved and have probably gone down the toilet thanks to Chuck's "wonderful return."

As I said earlier, the whole season comes down to the quarterback situation. Harper didn't look amazing but he got the job done. He was pretty much pressured every play in the second half by a quick D-line and linebacker crew but with a first start on national TV against a "ranked" opponent he got the job done. And can we please agree that preseason polls are shit? After the way FSU looked last year did people really think the Seminoles offense was going to improve that much to put them in the top 20?

My dad and I sat behind two drunk guys (one FSU fan and one Clemson fan). Both of them had had way too much to drink but when Clemson was up 21-0 and 24-3, the Tiger fan was all in his buddies face talking about how the game was over and they should just leave. Of course midway through the second half the roles had switched and the FSU fan was telling his buddy how the end was near for Clemson and this is what he expected. They ended up leaving with about 4 minutes to go for some reason but Jesus I hate sitting next to idiots like that.

i just got back as well....we rubbed the rock 3 minutes before the team did and i was patting Tommy on the hill right before the cannon went off. it was amazing. I give Cullen an A effort for looking like a veteran as far as not making mistakes. There were a few times where he could have forced things and hurt us but instead took a sack or threw it away. Our 1st TD scared the crap out of me because there were 3 FSU defenders right there, but somehow he got the ball to our TE.

my only complaint is that we get too cute when we are up and stop giving it to thunder and lightning, who can just flat out take over the game.

but either way its a great win and i love it!!!

3-0 so far but we can see how far the Tigers have come with their first away game and first real game since FSU. Should be a great game. I'm glad this came earlier in the season cause by the UNC/WF/Maryland games O' Brien should have the team playing consistently well.

^^ I have since 2000. I donate to IPTAY to have Clemson season tickets so consider them my school as well.

I do think Clemson is overrated right now (around #15 in the country in both polls) although you got to put them somewhere. All three games were at home and two of them were against cupcakes. The next three games are big: at NCSU, at GT, and home against VT. We can see how good Clemson is after Week #6. Harper has been great but as everyone says it has been against easier competition. Bowden has also been trying to get the throwing game more involved the past few weeks because it really hurt the team after the GT game last year when teams were putting 8-9 guys in the box and forcing Proctor to throw.

I AGREE...THESE MATCHUPS WILL BE TOUGH

@GT (I AM SURE THEY WILL BE PISSED ABOUT GETTING BEAT DOWN LAST YEAR)
VT (IF THEY CAN GET ANYTHING GOING ON OFFENSE THEY COULD BE TOUGH)
BC (LOOKS LIKE THE BEST TEAM IN THE BIG EAST
@MARYLAND (THEY HAVE A STINGY DEFENSE AS WELL)

i think Cullen's success this season (though it has been against weak opponents) will make it tough to create a defensive scheme this saturday...i get this feeling that if we (ncstate) try to stop the run we (clemson) will bomb the heck out of us, and visa versa. James Davis and CJ Spiller have been relatively quiet thus far, and might have a breakout game soon

Great win in Raleigh on Saturday. First time I've been to Carter Finley since all of the renovations have been completed. I love having three different Jumbotrons to watch the game and/or see replays and it appears to be run better than those in charge of Clemson's one screen.

Pretty much happy about the entire game. My only real criticism with the game was wondering why Tommy didn't call a timeout when State switched a no huddle offense on their first offensive touchdown possession. Totally caught Clemson off guard (Bowden and Koenning both mentioned this) for the entire drive. Other than that I can only be disappointed with Field Goals instead of TDs.
And why does every Textile Bowl get the worst possible set of refs available in the ACC. Took the refs forever to make a few of the decisions. I like to see refs getting together and making sure they call the play correctly but this shouldn't take longer than 20 seconds.

Most sports writers seem to be writing off this next game against GT as a victory already for Clemson because of the Yellow Jackets early season collapse but GT should be ready to play. They had a disappointing loss to BC and you could see the lack of enthusiasm during the Virginia game. This game should go to the wire.

losing this weekend will give you the typical clemson collapse...even losing 2 out of next 3 or 4 would be because you people seem to think they're better than they really are...they were like ncsu with rivers, cant get over the hump to be a legit top 10 every week

i know clemson football. i know how clemson football goes, and i realize that we have been an underachieving team for as long as i can remember. but i also know we have talent, and as long as we keep getting top 10 recruiting classes and talent on this team, then we have no excuse to not go and get an ACC title. so thats why clemson fans demand one.

and yes, it does seem like theres always this hump to make the leap into a weekly top10 team.
