new bed =/= looking at classifieds
We actually went to Sam's and got a great deal on a queen Sealy mattress, box springs, and bed frame. IIRC it was just at $700.00**. This bed is soooo comfy. We went to Sears as well, and I had shopped at Mattress Firm in Crossroads before, but Sam's was definitely the better deal.
Your selection is of course limited, but if you want just a good standard mattress (which seemed to be what all the articles I read said, no need for all that crazy wording fluff they name mattresses) with the option of a pillow top, then Sam's is it.
**I forgot I bought a set of 800 thread count sheets for it when I went, so the mattress, box springs and frame were actually cheaper.

^ For that price you could go to Fred's Beds and have a lot more selection. 8/16/2007 9:05:54 AM |

Ya Sams has the best deal. What sucks about mattresses is you can't compare shop. The reason for this is each retailer sells different model/type/name mattress. However many of them are the sme but just named differently. I am not sure why they do that but I think it's to prevent people to compare and shop mattresses.
I'd recommend getting at least a decent mattress because over the years I found one of the best decisions I made was the importance of a good night sleep. Not to say I get my full 8-10 hours but you spend a good third of your day in bed if not more at other times besides sleeping. So why not invest in something that will help your back, your sleep, your mood, and even maybe your love life.. 8/16/2007 9:06:38 AM |

i also recommend sams. my sealy mattress and box spring was $350 or so (this was several years ago). i looked a little akward putting the mattresses on the ground and laying on them, but i was fine with for saving a couple hundred bucks. 8/16/2007 9:09:39 AM |

The W hotel pillow top is awesome and they will deliver for free. You can find a Sealy Beautyrest with similar specs in a local store and it's several hundred dollars cheaper (I got my W mattress on sale). 8/16/2007 9:48:23 AM |
