For sale is a 2 week old apple iphone. Comes with original retail box and manuals/cables, etc. Has a prepaid account activated on it with $90 remaining on the account. Account will be transferred at time of sale to whoever buys the phone. If you do not wish to have a prepaid account, it is easily transferable to a regular plan, however the phone has unlimited nights and weekends after 9pm, and unlimited txt, the $90 will go a LONG way, if you choose a real plan, I have heard that it is super expensive.

It's on a pre-paid plan because we already have cell phones and a sidekick...and wanted no strings attached for this phone.

We know about the price drop with Apple, but there's $90.00 remaining on the phone for the month.

Most of them are probably due to a battery problem. Some were not holding their charge and not recharging back to full.

I returned mine after 8 days of very light use. No problems at all what so ever, I'm sure mine'll be amongst the refurbed crowd.

I actually paid $640 for mine, and I got it more because I am always on the internet, and admittedly for a "cellphone", surfing the internet is superior to any other device. It did have a strong "look at me factor". However, look at all my descent friends that have one who are on this board; Engin, Rich, Rex, Mark, Derrick. They're not exactly unique anymore...

Anyway, I liked it a lot but there were a few things that drove me crazy:
No Gmail client (made only worse by the horrible POP mail client).
No tethering it's internet connection to a laptop over AT&T's network. -Very big deal. I like having full internet access on the laptop when not near a WiFi, during road trips, at airports, etc.
Edge was a bit slower than I thought it would be. Spoiled by 3g I guess.
SMS client doesn't allow texting multiple people at once.
No copy/paste.

I also didn't appreciate the 2 year contract, but I've been with the same carrier for 10+ years, so I guess I shouldn't care about that.

Anyway, I may get another one in the future. Perhaps once it's got a few more updates. It was good, just not worth $650 with all the annoyances. I would've paid $350 for it, too bad the day I returned mine, they announced the refurbed 4gig model for $400. Once I am gainfully (more gainfully?) employed, it'll be one of the things I look at.

No there isn't. In time w/a hack there may be. They're making progress hacking into the file system (and if somebody could put a real gmail client, I may pick another one up that day). Currently, bluetooth is only useful for a headset. I have no use for that.

The internet connection you pay $20/month for IS useful though, because the phone is great at surfing the web, and you do need some sort of data package for that. The no laptop tethering would be a bigger deal once the phone does have 3g. -I'll be an early adopter if/when that comes on board as well.

ATT Terms of Use specifically ban tethering on any MediaNet plan. Just because you can do it doesn't mean it's allowed, or that they won't cancel it if you are found running gigs of data per month.

That said, I once paid a $400 phone bill because I didn't have regular Internet connection and used the one on my phone.

I don't think my tethered usage would be noticeable, it's not like I'm downloading torrents...

Like you said, you've ran up $400 in internet usage non-tethered. There's no fine to getting caught btw, they just want you to upgrade to their more expensive package. I've ran up $500+on my phone bill when I was in Europe last month. Didn't realize incoming texts, etc. were so expensive, and I have the "international roaming" package, didn't save a dime. They're all rip offs, at least finally the EU passed a law that lowers roaming quite a bit throughout Europe.

is it just me or does alltel seems like the most liberal mobile provider ever, lol? man they pretty much unlock everything on all of their phones, unlimited data package covers tethering, never once had an issue with an insurance claim, their reception is pretty good almost everywhere, they have reasonable prices phones and plans, and there costumer service is in almost instant in regard to actually talking to a human.
