YOU HAVE TO FIND THEIR KING
once you have him in your clutches assemble all of the camel crickets
in front of the crickets, and without mercy, bite the head off of the king cricket
then seal the windows and doors with salt and a quick blessing
your house should be safe after that 8/20/2007 11:13:18 PM

Camel cricket. Wonder if that pic will work...
Anyway, I sprayed the dark areas of my old apartment with RAID, then sprayed along any entryways and along under the doorway to the stacked washer/dryer laundry unit (which was where they were living). I didn't see them again since they went into hiding after that, though I did see a large ping-pong ball sized camel cricket in my kitchen later on that I tried to throw a textbook at, missed, and then I never saw that camel cricket again.
They fucking suck. I'd get a professional opinion and maybe have your place sprayed by a pro.

Ortho Home Defense does the job around my house. I don't know specifically about these crickets being covered, but it's good stuff. The big jug is ~$14 at Lowes. Spray it inside, outside, and in your crawlspace.

holy shit we were just spraying raid along the front door and the biggest one yet popped out. my roomate literally sprayed it with raid for a whole minute and it was still hopping. so she threw my shoe at it. im gonna be sick. ps is raid dangerous because we just sprayed about a whole can of it at that stupid bug.

Raid is dangerous if you are breathing in the mist, or spraying it on yourself. If you smell the petrochemical or floral smell of Raid, you are not in danger of dying. The smell might make you sick, but the real problems come from being in direct contact with it and not washing it off/being unable to wash it off.
They are pretty hard to kill with spray stuff. Honestly I don't think you can argue with the shoe defense. Just wear some stompin shoes and go to town. Use a tennis racket for when they become airborne.

Really. These things are HARMLESS.
They're creepy-looking, yes. But they don't make noise, they don't bite, and other than being in the way I don't think they do any damage whatsoever. I still wouldn't want an infestation of them in my house, but...calm down. 8/21/2007 12:48:33 AM

I have never seen these crickets as bad as in my home in Burlington. I went in to the crawl space a couple times to run some wire and looked up only to see the swarms of them holding on to the rafters. We had those pre-baited sticky trap strips that can catch all kinds of things and they were always catching some of those crickets. 8/21/2007 12:50:19 AM

In that case I wouldn't care too much, except being freaked out when one jumped on me.
I would rather MUCH have an infestation of these things than regular crickets.

I can 100% vouch that these things are harmless. They're kinda scary when they get near you all of a sudden when you're not expecting it, but just get a shoe and smash them. They live in dark areas in hordes and probably come in through cracks in the wall. I've lived peacefully with them occasionally infiltrating my home for the past 11 years and they don't do anything to you. There are much much worse things you could have in your house than these things.
Plus, they're fragile so it's not hard to kill them. 9/3/2007 3:12:52 PM

I've had great success by mixing 1/2 part BORAX with 1/2 part BUTTER (or margarine). The little suckers eat the poison ... die ... then his friends eat him ... and they die ... and it's a regular cannibalistic orgy. Disgusting sounding, but it kills them and it's cheap. 9/3/2007 6:02:05 PM
