Alright guys, I'm new to linux, I've played around with the live CDs several times. But recently acquired a P3 machine that I want to use as a linux playground. I installed ubuntu 6.06 yesterday and I want to install more versions of linux up there to play with and see which ones I like best. So the main question is, do I have to have a swap partition for each install or can they all use the exact same swap and just have their own separate partitions for themselves? 8/27/2007 6:55:17 PM |

they can all use the same provided that you're only running one at a time and they are cleanly shutdown/unmounted 8/27/2007 9:53:52 PM |

thanks man, i ended up installin/replacing them one by one last night till I found one that i liked. I think Fedora Core is the one for me so far, I have yet to try Suse and some of the others, but so far I really like FC6, gonna download FC7 and install it later 8/28/2007 5:10:04 PM |

i'm digging ubuntu right now, though I did manage to fudge my xserver trying to get my mouse to work with all buttons...it's a crazy simple distro 8/28/2007 10:22:05 PM |
