My mother got a 4wd ford ranger, and she needs something for the bed. what are the pros and cons of different types of bedliners?

what level of protection will each offer, and what do y'all recommend?

if you dent a spray in liner you dent the metal under it... not always true w/ a plastic bedliner.
other than that i prefer spray in... and i prefer line x to rhino liner (i had rhino peal back off of something which was probably my fault) but still the 1/8" of line x isn't going anywhere... ever.

drop in plastic liners will wear the paint off everything they touch, trap dirt and moisture underneath and rust all that bare metal, bad idea all around

we have beat the HELL out of some line-x in my company trucks and my personal trucks. i wouldn't put anything else in them.

not only is it tougher and look better, a big thing is it's repairable. rhino isn't, i don't care what they say. it doesn't bond to itself since it's sprayed hot. we've had to repair one small gouge in one truck, and you can hardly tell.

^be sure to let us know if you open a place. i'm thinking about having my trailer deck sprayed with a thin coat.

^I agree on the Line-X, I did the interior of one of my trucks in it. I had to cut out some sheet metal later with a different transmission and build a new box around it, and it matched right up.

On the other hand, if your mom is just occasionally using the bed, I'd just use a big rubber mat.

I paid $399 for over or under the rails (obviously I went with over), lifetime warranty at ANY location across the country.

it was a special, father's day special i believe... but at any rate check around, the raleigh shop wasn't able to get me in for over 2 weeks, the durham shop had me in the next morning, and I was in and out within an hour. It's a little further to drive, but worth it to me. He also listened to exactly what I wanted and did just that. Can't ask for much more

^yeah, that's why i got the UV coating applied to mine. the guy at Line-X of the Triangle told me if it ever were to fade to bring it back and he'd fix it.

Good luck opening a franchise, its about a 50k buy in. For your moms just get a rubber mat. Also unless you are keeping the truck for 10+ years then a plastic liner will be fine, when we used to spray liners we pulled them out of trucks and there was barely any wear under them. ITs not as bad as people think.

actually the father's day deal they had going was better than the FF discount, but at any rate, i wasn't too worried about the UV as the truck is kept in the garage most of the time, and in the 1.5 years i've had it there has been little if any fading, and the fading is no biggy to me

I want to get my trucks bumpers and sliders done in Line-x but they are saying its 2-3 times the material to cover it all (opposed to a flat surface like a bedliner) and it might run me $1000


Im thinking paint them myself with enamel and then light spray of DIY bedliner stuff on the top...

herculiner. hands down the best DIY stuff. you can catch it on sale at northern and wal-mart for ~80 bucks from time to time.
