he was suspended...but was originally facing expulsion until the school board intervened and said no.

apparently the white guy who got beat, was throwing out racial slurs before the first punch was thrown.

the whole saga is nooses in sept--arson of unknown origin--fight in december. nearly 4 months of racial tension in the school after the nooses before the fight happened.

I dont think that one should get beaten for saying some stupid shit. When things get physical you have crossed the line. If you allow certain things to be said, and state its ok to get beat because they were said, where do you draw that line?

I agree the kids should have been suspended, the ones who hung the noose.

However, calling someone a name doesnt give one the right to beat them. Everyone in this situation is in the wrong in some form. It seems to me that the one kid is getting a harsher sentence bc of his priors.

All in all, the picture I get is some backwoods uneducated town, full of idiots.

Terp, no one is talking about putting them away for life. However, his MAXIMUM sentence is 22 yrs. I would imagine it is higher due to his priors.

Terp, a judge reduced the sentencing on Mychal Bell, and he had the most priors. He is the only one in jail bc of his priors and high bail:

On August 24th, 2007, a bond hearing was held for Mychal Bell. Judge J.P. Mauffray ruled against Bell, citing four prior violent crimes in his past and three parole violations.


There is no way any of the other kids dont get thier charges reduced, following this precedent.

I have no problem with these kids being charged with aggravated assualt and punished. Esp if the kid was knocked out.
