Anybody had success working with DirectX and Parallels?

I've been attempting to get Red Alert 2 or Star Trek New Worlds to run, both of which are DirectX7 games, however when they go to run they only produce a black screen.

personally, i'd never run a game in a VM

install on a separate boot camp partition and let parallels run from that if you need windows while in os x, then if you want to play a windows game, reboot into win32

Seems there's a tiny little check box underneath the virtual machine configuration -> video -> enable directX

However, it seems to run VERY clunky compared to VMWare, but my VMWare WinXP install is clean yet my Parallels install has a lot of work software.
