This isn't limited to basketball shoes, however, the Air Penny 2's have to take the cake.

And btw, I'm not really a shoe guy, but I've been trying to track these down in my size for a while.

^^man that's fugly, but all basketball shoes are fugly...so to each his own i guess.

the montrail vitesse II is my favorite shoe. it's very supportive and comfortable. i have 11 pairs of keens though, and i'm on that same path with chacos.

are we talking strictly aesthetics or comfort?

because these shoes so far are fugly and would make most of the industrial design kids cry

It's a tie:

Remember, it depends on what the shoe is designed for.

These are arguably the best shoe design of all time. They're timeless. After all, they're still popular 90 years after their introduction. Everything else has and will rise and fall with the current trends.

Converse All Stars are terrible shoes. They have no support, no cushion, and they wear out fast. The only thing they have going for them is looks.

They look alright if you have short and narrow feet. They look downright goofy if you're a size 13 wide and the laces are bulging in the middle.

until they got super trendy again several years ago, you could still get them for $9.99 a pair brand new in charlotte (when i started HS which was about 9 years ago). then all of a sudden they got super trendy and started costing $30 a pair or more depending on where you go now :/ So even if they did wear out faster, they were so cheap to replace/have multiple colors of.

However, I had one pair of low top chucks the whole time i was in High School, so they held up pretty well for me

Nick's Hotshot

But...I guess if you're asking what design is best then you'd have to go with the White's Smoke Jumper. It was the original wildland firefighting boot shoe.

Seriously, I had a pair of Ariat work boots that I wore until the heel literally collapsed. I think they lasted 6 years.

Diesel Proton.

Look great, incredibly comfortable, great for athletic stuff too. Mine have lasted almost 7 years.

^ man, no doubt. I've got a pair that has lasted forever. Not only are they really comfortable and light, but they go with everything. nice enough to go with some nicer outfits but casual enough to be worn with pretty much anything as well.

[Edited on September 7, 2007 at 1:15 PM. Reason : the soles are a bit thin for athletic stuff though they are light as mentioned. wear um for capoerra]

^^^Brooks Beast! Best damn running shoe ever for my flat feet.

Timberlands are crap. The company would have gone down the shitter if it wasn't for the thugs buying tons of the pos work boots.

You must have gotten them on sale or bought the K-Mart knockoffs because they have been $30 since 1985.
