Ok, i have rr, a d-link di 604
Last night between 2-3am I lost connection (limited or no connectivity actually) and it was absolutely fine before hand. I check the router and the WAN light is flashing once every 30 seconds or so. The CAT5 clip on the router end is not "clicking" in so in case it's not getting a good connection I try another cable, same thing. Reset the modem and router... no different. So i figure maybe RR is hosed.
This afternoon> WAN light is solid now (I didn't change anything). Connections all say connected, is pulling an ip from the router (set up to assign by mac), but still not getting out. I can also connect to the router and see the machines connected. (could not connect to the router at all last night)
If i bypass the router and go from the cable modem to the pc i get a connection no problem.
Makes me think for some reason the router is not able to send data through the modem.
Anyone around Kaplan have a router I can use to test it? Perhaps buy if it works?
The thing that's throwing me off is that lastnight it seemed to be more of a problem with RR... is it possible that they're blocking the mac address of my router? My name is not on the account and my roommate is not around... so I can't call them right now.
Any ideas? 9/8/2007 4:13:29 PM |

Happened to my parents in Gastonia, NC (Charlotte TWC market). I cloned the MAC address (in the router configuration) of their desktop PC and it worked like a charm. 9/8/2007 5:03:53 PM |

find the little reset button, and clear the router. turn everything (PC, router, cable modem) off for 1 minute, then turn each back on in this order:
-- cable modem (wait 30 secs to boot) -- router (wait 30 secs to boot) -- PC
i know this sounds basic, but im surprised how often it clears up whatever the problem is. 9/8/2007 5:07:38 PM |

tried ^ and it got me back to there being no WAN light on the router. I keep getting a "network cable unplugged" message on and off every few seconds.
But I get a good connection when i go from the modem to the computer I'm on now.
I can't even log into the router right now. 9/8/2007 6:44:33 PM |

at the risk of sounding obvious, i think your router is fucked.
