99-01 range, about 110000 miles or so, the car was running fine......i went on a weekend trip, now the car won't start, but the engine won't even turn over. Starter problem? If it was the starter, would the engine still turn over a little bit, bc there is no activity in the engine when the ignition is turned, but it was running fine last time i checked it. seems like there would've been no catalyst to blow the engine, etc.....
any input is appreciated. 9/11/2007 4:55:22 PM |

yea, i mean we just tried to jump it, the car we used to jump it might not have that strong of a battery, but i didn't think it could be the battery anyway, since the engine wasn't even clicking. 9/11/2007 4:59:48 PM |

do any lights come on anywhere when you have the jumper cables connected?

you can take the battery out and get it tested at autozone or most any auto parts store. that will tell you for sure if it's the battery or not. 9/11/2007 6:35:30 PM |

Does the starter make a clicking sound when you try to turn it over? If so, it's probably the battery. 9/11/2007 6:37:30 PM |

its the battery. you probably just left the lights on overnight. 9/11/2007 6:39:06 PM |

^^see that's the thing, it doesn't. no clicking or noise at all from the engine. nothing really seems to engage. But I mean I would think the lights would still be on (which they are not), unless the battery and something else fucked up simultaneously, which would be a little ridiculous. so that's why i'm confused. 9/11/2007 9:23:27 PM |

check the battery cables. the ground clamp on my wife's car corroded up and the car knocked off today. I cleaned it up and it was fine afterwards. 9/11/2007 9:38:43 PM |

i dont see what the problem is here.
if you have no power when the engine is off... what else could it be?
if you have no power... how are you going to make a starter click?
get a new battery. if you are going to keep the car for a year or less go to wal-mart.
longer- pony up the extra cash for a good battery at an auto parts store.

wal-mart has some decent batteries, actually. it's the battery though. the rest has already been said. 9/13/2007 9:46:32 AM |

i dunno man, i have purchased 2 batteries, the cheap 2 year warranty and the more expensive everstart maxx with the 3 plus year. they both are fine.
