I'm looking to get myself a surround sound set up. I'm not trying to spend a lot of money, so i'm not expecting anything top notch (i'm more of a video guy than an audio guy, but i want something that will sound good).
is there a complete system (speakers, sub, receiver package) that you would recommend? if not, which components?
i'm looking to spend around 500 bucks. 9/12/2007 9:38:40 AM |

El Nacho's suggestion is pretty top notch IMO for your price range. If you did decide to spend more, like closer to a grand, I would suggest you listen to these:

Note that they come with mounting brackets so that saves you a decent amount of money if you would otherwise be buying them.
They also have a package with a sub, but I would rather get the satellites alone and buy a different brand sub like JBL or Klipsch. Also you still have to add a receiver and with those speakers you don't want to skimp, so there is another $400 - $600. I like Yamaha receivers. If I was in the market for home theater and had a grand to blow, that's the route I'd go. However, my audiophileness does not exceed my savings to spending ratio.
