So I'm through the first 4 chapters of "Bowls, Polls and Tattered Souls" - the book that Stewart Mandel (SI.com) wrote about college football. I have to say it's a very interesting read and answers a lot of the questions people probably pepper his mailbag with.
Chapter Titles: One Nation, Under the BCS Pulling Rank He Won the Heisman? FireMyCoach.com What's the Deal With Notre Dame? Invasion of the Recruiting Geeks How Boston College and Clemson Became Neighbors Tonight, It's the MPC Motor City Car Care Credit Union Bowl That's Great, Now Run a 40 Everybody Cheats - Just Not My School
I'm pretty sure that everyone at one time or another has though Mandel is an idiot - that's what you get when you're a national beat writer. But he gives some pretty good insight into various topics that always seem to be the center of controversy. Anyone else given it a read?
Definitely recommended.
