The only time i've called 911 was when I was in a Lowe's delivery truck and we made a wrong turn. We're at a stop sign and the driver goes in reverse and backs into this woman's car. Messed up the hood a bit and busted the radiator.

i gotta say, I was pretty excited to actually get to call 911, lol.

I was on a senior class trip to Washington DC. We had boys in our room (omg) and were leaning out the window smoking cigars (omg). It was like... 2:30 in the morning, and we saw these two guys walk up to a car at the gas station across the street, fool around for a while (we thought drug deal) then walk away. About five minutes later, the whole shit blew up.

We couldnt call 911 on the hotel phones because they were turned off (this group of honors band kids are going to be tying up the lines all night, I guess) so we called on a cell phone. No one ever came to ask us what happened, even though we saw the whole thing. It was intense.

When I was little I dialed it then hung up, they called back and I answered anxiously. they asked if there was any problem and I said no and they asked if I was sure. I pretty much shit my pants.

Then whenever I see an accident happen, or don't see any emergency vehicles at the scene I'll call. I feel like if I can't handle the gore myself and make sure they're ok I should at least call 911.

I called 911 when this girl was speeding around the curve in front of my house, went into the ditch, flew through the air, and busted a power pole with a transformer on it. She ended up living, she was pretty badly shaken up though.

PICS!

I was riding home from getting dinner one night, and the car in front of us got creamed by a red-light runner from the opposite direction (we were on Millbrook->Duraleigh, drunk/moron was on Glenwood). The guy driving my car had had a few drinks (not drunk) and wouldn't stop so I could help (I had basic medical training), so I called 911 and told them what happened.

Yes she was. He husband was deployed or something, however, she didn't have insurance. NC requires drives to have insurance, Alabama doesn't or where ever she was from.

Here's the only good pic I have from my little incident. Just remembered that the woman and her mom were off to the hospital at the time for the mom to have open heart surgery, she was pretty fat and not in good shape. They called out the woman's husband so that the mom could sit in the air conditioned cab and eventually left the scene since the cop took so long to get there.

Pretty bad for her, it was a really hot day and she didn't like the stress of the accident.

coming back from oak island a couple years back, on a 2 lane highway, an F150 tried to pass 3 cars in a row in the oncoming lane. I was the middle car, and he realized he was going to hit oncoming traffic and jerked over in front of me. I hit the brakes, and the dude loses control, skids off the road and flips nose to tail about 5 times. He missed me literally by inches.

I pulled over and called 911.

big surprise: drunk driver. and his dad was the sheriff. I gave my statement to the cops, but never got a call. Something tells me that daddy made this one go away.

when I was 5 or 6

my mom was in the bathroom vomiting uncontrollably, and never answered when I asked if she was okay. The things you learn once you've vomited a time or two

Then, a couple weeks ago. I was getting ready for classes, and heard a massive bang, and i walked into the kitchen to find my bf unconscious on the floor, shaking, and with his eyes open and rolled back. He had passed out, and his head hit the island on the kitchen, which is on wheels. When it moved, it knocked over the butcher block at the end of it.

Nah.

He was cleaning a wound he'd just gotten. He was putting a chair in the living room back on it's caster, which has teeth, and accidentally pinned his finger between the teeth of the caster, and the chair. part of his fingernail was severed, but attached at the nail bed, still.

He walked into the kitchen, and was about to turn on the water to rinse it off when he passed out. vasovagal reaction - his is just a weeeeeee bit sensitive he's been on the edge of passing out before from hitting his thumb with a hammer.

A man stared back at me after confronting death.
Category: Blogging

So this morning, I'm driving on 33 on the way to Greenville for class. The car ahead is about 50 yards away. He's driving an 80's Chevy Cavalier Wagon. In front of him is a truck. The truck decides to make a turn off of the main road, and the guy in the Cav zooms around him.

As soon as he gets into the oncoming lane, he realizes there's a large dump truck coming right at him. They make an attempt to swerve, but to no avail. They hit head on, going about 55mph on impact. The Cav slams into the truck, jumps about 6 feet into the air, and then smashes back down onto the pavement with a sickening crash that I could hear over my SOAD CD.

So I pull over, a little out of my mind and immediately hit 911. I get out of the car and walk over to the Cavalier, and he's passed out. I give the 911 operator the location and details of the wreck. When she finally asks me if he's conscious, I realize he's just now coming to. He leans his head back and I can see a large chunk of his lip is completely gone, the steering wheel is crushing his chest, and his legs are pinned under the dash. He groaned and seemed to have no idea where he was at. At that point I'm carrying two conversations. I'm looking at this guys bloody fucking face, and I'm listening to the 911 operator tell me to keep him calm..

That's when I snap.

I started to yell at the operator, because she had suddenly become intentionally calm, for lack of a better term. She just kept repeating the same thing, "Keep him calm, EMTs are on the way. Stay on the line." I told her something to the effect of:

"THIS GUY IS PINNED IN THE GODDAMN CAR, HIS FACE IS GUSHING BLOOD, AND IM PRETTY SURE IM STANDING IN A PUDDLE OF GAS. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KEEP HIM CALM?"

I ended up hanging up the phone, and trying to talk to the guy. It was no help though, because by that point all the pain from the broken bones started to set in. His eyes were as big as plates as he was wailing, screaming, and struggling to get himself out of the car; while I stood there, awestruck. I told him not to move, and began to chainsmoke like I've never done before while I tried to ask him calming questions like "What's your name? and Where are you right now?" I felt like a therapist; which is pretty ironic.

After the initial craze, the EMTs finally got there and used the Jaws of Life to get him out of the car. I overheard them saying he had broken both legs, most of his ribs, his wrist, and his jaw. AND THAT'S BEFORE THEY DID AN XRAY.

I managed to take a few pictures, once everyone else got there and I had a minute to gather myself. I uploaded a few of them here:

I have called 911 four different times.

The first time was when I was something like 12 years old. I lived in a rural area and a family was old letting their 14 or 15 year old daughter practice driving. I am not exactly sure how she managed it, but she lost control of the car and flipped the car over. Between her, her mother, and her father, they suffered some broken bones and other injuries, but nothing too serious.

Another time, my family heard our dog barking and we looked out the window to see two cars pulled to the side of the road right in front of our house. Some guy had gotten out of his car and gone up to the window of the other car just yelling up a storm. He walked back to his car, pulled out a gun, and started firing at the other car. The other car sped off and the guy got in his car and followed.

And again, there was this huge snow storm and I was driving between Greenville and Raleigh. My car slid off of the road and into a guard rail. I was really nervous and freaked out, so I called 911. They told me that as long as no other cars were involved, no one was hurt, and that I could get my car back on the road that I should just keep moving on because they were so backed up.

And lastly, some Mexican who wasn't even supposed to be driving, rear ended the crap out of my car in the middle of rush hour in the pouring rain on the damned belt line.

haha, pretty sure i saw the aftermath of that on my way back to raleigh (parents have a house on oak island). it was on hwy 133 that runs from southport to wilmington. it was definitely a couple of years ago and was a bad wreck involving a ford truck, i couldn't tell exactly what had happened.

i've never called 911, but i've had it called for me.

Two months ago I am at work, It's like 5:30pm and I look out the window and see like 8-10 kids standing next to a vacant house that was under construction. That second they all hurled chunks of concrete at the side of the house and busted every fucking window out of it and ripped a bunch of the siding off.

I stormed out of the model I was working at so fucking mad I began screaming obscenities at them and trying to dial at the same time. They took off running like some shit on cops so I jumped in my car and chased them down the street while explaining to the 911 operator what they just did and that I was chasing them.

They stopped behind some trees on a piece of vacant land to catch their breath. I sat in my car waiting and watching until they noticed my livid ass sitting in the land rover with the busted loud exhaust staring at them (still on phone with 911 operator). The whole crowd takes off running again back behind their apartment complex. I pulled in the front way and followed them running until I saw which building they disappeared in the back of.

Went up to the building and some little girl was standing there I asked her did she see some guys running and she pointed at the door to the right apt and walked off. The 911 operator told me to wait away from the building, then the cops show up.

Cops go pound on the door, 3 of the kids were in there and had already changed clothes. They told the cop they had been playing video games and he kept grilling them all because they were all soaked in sweat. (most people don't get soaked in sweat playing playstation). Eventually the three that were busted red handed admitted they were down there and throwing the rocks, but tried to say that the ones they threw did not break any windows.

The other cop found the rest of them down the street. They were all busted and had to go to juvenile court for the vandalism. Cops told me that had I not chased them nothing would have ever happened with it, and they probably would have done it again.

Normally I would never go out of my way to get anyone in legal trouble, but after all the bullshit tickets I have gotten for stepping off the curb with a beer, etc. I will be damned if I am gonna let some punk teenagers cause over $1,000 in damage to a house that I am trying to sell and get away with it.

The guy that was building the house was pretty happy because they had been busting out his windows one at a time for months and had just gotten brazen enough to try to do a whole house. They got trespassed from the whole neighborhood. Most builders have like a $10,000 insurance deductible on the homes they are building, when people do crap like that it hits their pockets.

That was one of the few positive encounters I have had with RPD but I have to say on that one they got there quick and handled the situation as well as anyone could have asked of them. The aforementioned kids never screwed with the homes on that street the rest of the time I worked there.

I called it on accident a couple weeks back after the state/ucf game. I had forgotten to lock my keys on my phone and was changing clothes or something in the bedroom. I took my phone out and saw Dialing... 911 so i hung up real quick.

it went through b/c about a minute later they called back asking if i was ok. I had to explain that I was an idiot and my phone dialed accidently. She was sweet though and wished me a safe night. haha

the only time I've ever called it for an emergency was when the caterers from my brother's wedding came to the church to tell us that lightning had struck my grandmother's house (site of the reception) and that it was filling up with smoke. I'm a volunteer fireman, though and have had to call 911 several times to get more information about a call. We're in a rural area and sometimes the directions that people give are not reliable.

when I was about 10, the water heater electrical panel exploded in a ball of fire. In the infinite wisdom of the builder they stuck the water heater under the kitchen counter (don't ask, we fixed it soon after). ended up not needing the fire department's help after we got the fire extinguisher out.

called it for wrecks I have been witness to.

called *hp for a drunken idiot driving the wrong way on 64 just east of rocky mount.

"So what do you do if you need to call the police but it isn't an emergency?"

i called 411 once when someone threw beer bottles and almost busted my bedroom window (3rd floor apartment)
the number she gave me for Raleigh PD is 919-831-6311
also used that number a month or so after when fireworks exploded into the kitchen window.
we didn't piss any neighbors off i don't know what they had against our windows.

called 911 after that when some black dude in a hoodie with the hood covering his face and carrying a duffle bag tried to break into my apartment (saw him through the peephole when i heard him trying to force his way in). the 911 girl says "go outside and ask him if he has the wrong apartment number" i was like "are you crazy" and dialed the raleigh pd number instead.

also once when my dad was chopping down a tree in the backyard and the chainsaw kicked back into his calf and cut the muscle to the bone. he then walks up the basement steps into the house and asks me to call 911. it was a slow sunday in my hometown so they sent 2 firetrucks, 2 EMT cars, a fire dept pick up truck, and an ambluance. i counted 13 responders.

Once when the people in front of me had two chocolate labs in the back of their truck on leashes... one of the dogs jumped out, was hanging by the leash and when the leash broke the back tire ran over the dog's jaw. The owner's were histerical as they should be.

Another time we were heading to illinois and going to through Mt. Airy late at night, it was so foggy you couldn't see more than 10 ft in front of you... we almost slammed into a wrecked car in the middle of the road. Got out and the guy had fallen asleep and crashed, we were the first people there... the car was smashed all into his legs and lower body...

i pulled a little citizens arrest a while ago on some nigger black kid.

there was a thread about it.

pretty much chased this kid down and threw a shoulder into him at the arbys drive through knocking him silly.

cops came. and took them away.

twas two black kids, they stole a car and rammed right into the rear of another one at a stop light.(that car could have been me but i looked in my rear view and knew that these kids were haulin too much tail to slow down, so i merged into the right lane.)

the first time I called 911 was in the parking lot of a Mexican restaurant following a punk and metal show

these racist skinheads were stomping the hell out of a drunk Mexican fellow who, though obnoxious, was lots of fun at the show (he jumped on stage with the band and sang in Spanish... it was pretty cool)

the second time was following a fund-raiser party my friend had for his downstairs neighbors to get some emergency contraception... their friends got into a fight with my friends regarding stealing charity funds and materials (their friends being the culprits)

I didn't call the cops until I got menaced with a sharp stick by some coked up moron in the parking lot
the police never showed

So me and my friends are sitting on the front porch of the real skinny house on Method Road, where I lived at the time, playing poker. It's nighttime but not real late.

Out of nowhere, these two scrawny white boys run up the stairs onto our porch. They're both looking like they just got out of a fight -- bruised, a little bleeding, clothes ripped, etc. According to them, two black guys had erroneously accused them of trying to break into their car to steal weed. Both white boys frantically denied this, and begged that we hide them and call the police.

We told them there was no way in hell we were letting them bring their trouble into our house, though I did go get my phone. While that was happening, lo and behold two black guys appear on the sidewalk in front of the house, staring up at the white boys and pacing. I dialled 911 and my buddy handled the talking.

After the black guys disappeared for a minute, the taller white boy said to the shorter, "Man, what the fuck did you do? You broke into his shit, didn't you?"

Shorter one: "No, man, I..." (tears off running down the stairs and away from the house as fast as possible.)

Taller one: "Oh, god damn it." (tears off running after him)

The cops showed up a few minutes later, and my roommate flagged them down -- in the middle of the street, holding a beer, drunk as a red indian. They didn't seem to mind. We gave the description of the two scrawny white boys. "Oh, yeah, we've run into them before. Little pieces of shit. They're always breaking into cars and selling drugs, especially the little one."

"Are they the type that might get some friends together and give us trouble later?"

"Oh, no, they don't really have any friends. Don't worry, boys, they're probably getting what they deserve."

----

Later, the taller scrawny white boy came down beneath the porch and started yelling at us. "Man, it wouldn't have cost you nothing to call the cops, why didn't you help us out?"

"We did call the cops."

"Man, why the fuck did you call the cops? Little bitch pussies."

There's just no pleasing some people.

My first cell phone was a piece of shit. Sometimes it would go into infinite loops of calling 911 and hanging up I got lots of calls from da POlice about that one.

Called 911 once when there was an accident on Lake Wheeler in the middle of the night. Two guys were screaming at each other trying to fight and this scrawny little white chick was in between them trying to break it up.

Called 911 another time when my bro and I were just getting out of a movie. Some guy in a Jeep Grand Cherokee was driving around the parking lot smashing into cars. Hit 6 or so cars and possibly 1 person (don't know if the person was hit or hurt herself getting out of the way)

please do not call 911 unless you have an EMERGENCY.

if it is not an EMERGENT SITUATION (i.e. AN EMERGENCY), call the NON-EMERGENT number: 919-831-6311.

yes, they go to the same place downtown, but it makes a difference. 911 calls are picked up a bit quicker than the calls that come in on all the non-emergent/ems/fire lines.

thanks.
