Man, this is SO much better than Kid Nation. I'd been looking forward to this one for a while.

I heard about it while watching Hell's Kitchen this past season. I like Gordon.

so far I still like the BBC version better, Gordon Ramsey did less yelling and was a lot more helpful (or you saw him helping more). The side interviews with the staff seem really whiny and annoying......

i missed by a day to bttt

from the first ep, the american version focuses wayyy more on the people/fights instead of the food, typical fox i guess

but it seems like if your star is a chef you would talk about the food a little more

not bad, just not as good as the bbc (i usually hate when people say stuff like that but still)

***SPOILER FOR THIS EPISODE****

Quote :
"Martin R. Hyde, ex-General Manager of Dillions restaurant in New York, has filed a lawsuit against Gordon Ramsay and the production company of Kitchen Nightmares, claiming that he was convinced to resign due to fraud by Ramsay and the producers.

Dillions was one of the restaurants profiled in the show, and Ramsay allegedly found spoiled meat, shoddy chairs, and more, all of which made it into the edit. Hyde claims the meat and chairs were planted, and later when the restaurant shows increased patronage after the improvements ordered by Ramsay was made, those patrons were extras hired by the production company.

Hyde seeks monetary damages and injunction to prevent the episode from being aired in Fall of 2007.[2] However, in August 2007 the Manhattan Federal Court dismissed the case, with Hyde's consent, and ordered both parties to go into arbitration, as stipulated in their contract.[3]"

****END SPOILER****

Gordon is the biggest asshole in the world, but i am fully on his side. These restaurants are filthy as shit and the owners are literally retarded.

This one dude up there now literally has zero problem solving skills.

It may be because he's "local" in the NYC area, and so he has the connections and knowledge of the available resources to pull off some of these miracles, like finding the Indian chef for example.

it just amazes me when these people treat chef ramsey with so little respect when they don't have even an ounce of his talent. i mean the guy tonight thought the fact that his menu was "unique" was the most important aspect of his failing restaurant. if this show wasn't supposed to be for real i would swear tonights episode was so incredibly fake. was that guy serious???

I figured out why most restaurants fail -- the owners are mentally deficient. It's unreal this guy had a menu that had dishes with 6 * 20 * 6 possible combinations of food.

The restaurant in the most recent show will definitely fail because this idiot will start adding stupid shit to the menu.

I like how ramsey called all those people tossers

ive wondered ow any of these businesses have kept business or not gotten sued because of the conditions shown in some kitchens before he fixes them up

then again its probably all fake because alot of the restaurant patrons are paid actors.

Every time the guy said that his menu was unique I just wished that Chef woudl say something like "well it can be as unique as you want, but it still blows"

I watched some of the british eps. He's more of a caricature on the american ones. On the british ones, he jokes around a lot. On the american ones, he seems like an unrelenting ass hole.

The owner in 5.2 of the UK version was fucking hot. In fact, all women in france appear to be hot.

[Edited on November 10, 2007 at 2:01 AM. Reason : the uk one is also filmed better]

The british version is so much better. They dumbed down the american one a lot. Kind of sad what it says if they feel they had to dumb it down for an american audience.

They've morphed the show to emphasize the relationships and the psychological. It feels like a Dr. Phil-type show except its set in a restaurant and the host practices brutally tough love.

Gordon Ramsay is a badass motherfucker in the kitchen.

There is a reason why the people who started out with him are still working for him.

I have never watched his show though.

BUT I have eaten at his restaurants.

I agree with everybody that said the British Version is better, but I've seen them all, so the American one was a good substitute...now the American version is in re-runs too...
