So my dads daily driver finally gave out on him after almost 300K miles (dodge stealth) and I'm trying to talk him into just buying something else with a lot less miles as opposed to putting more money into that car than it's worth. I doubt he'll spend much over $5K.. I've found a few accord's that are pretty decent in that price range but any other good ideas? Mileage doesn't really matter but how many more miles he'll get out of it does... I'm thinking some kind of honda or toyota at around 100K miles should be sufficient for a few years.

Oh, and no niggered up shit.

What do you guys suggest?

How many miles can you expect a late 90's accord to last, assuming good maintenance practices?

300k at the least.

dunno about the trans if you get an auto, since you pretty much never know on a used car. as long as the shifts are solid, it's in fine shape. the fluid has to be changed every 35-50 k using atf-z1, religiously for a nice running one though.

99-2001 or so v6 accords had shittier parts. alternators would go out on the regular.

Either get a late 90s camry or a civic/integra. The most reliable accords IMO are the early 90s ones.

Not sure if they changed the trans in the later 90's ones, but the auto in my dad's 91 lasted until 190K or so. Not bad...

Quarter Million +.

Had a co-worker who drove a 1991 to 250,000 miles and he said he never did anything except maintenance and a clutch. He sold it for $1,000.

My brother drove a 1998 to 180,000 and it still ran perfect. The only issue he had was a bad cat, but that was most likely from the dumbass that overfilled the oil causing it to blow past the rings and cover I-40 in smoke. He sold that one for around $4800.
