UFC 76 was one of the best cards in awhile. All of those fights delivered. Once again Chuck Liddell gets beat, albeit he made it through all three rounds.

Honestly that fight was the least exciting of the three. Forrest Griffin's upset over Rua was awesome!!!!! gotta go will post more soon.

Yeah, the most successful mma organization should go bankrupt - that'd be awesome for the sport.

Dumbass.

^^ it baffles you that what was thought to be the best organization talent wise, may in fact not be so,

and your conclusion is that the other one should go broke?

what kind of fucking logic is that?

yeah, after all that pride nuthugging that amac884 did, i'm sure he isn't happy that they aren't being as successful as hoped (except rampage...and one of the two guys he beat was pride). but i'm also sure he isn't stupid enough to hope ufc goes bankrupt

pilgrimshoes, from ufcdaily

Quote :
"Mauricio “Shogun” Rua walked away battered from his UFC debut after Forrest Griffin upset the standout light heavyweight. Round one was essentially too close to call with the judges likely able to award winning scores for either fighter. The pair traded takedowns and ground and pound but neither was able to dominate the round for a clearcut win. The second round began with Rua controlling the pace but at the midway point appeared completely exhausted and was unable to connect with much for the rest of the fight. Griffin took advantage with ground and pound in round two to earn points. The final frame saw The Ultimate Fighter 1 winner Griffin look to finish the fight with a variety of submissions and ground and pound but as time wound down it appeared the fight may go to the judges but a smooth transition by Griffin allowed him to sink in a rear naked choke forcing Rua to tap with 15-seconds remaining in the bout"

[Edited on September 25, 2007 at 9:17 AM. Reason : doesn't sound nearly as exciting as it was. The fight was great.]

there is a big difference in fighting in the cage compared to fighting in a ring
that has to have something to do with it.

plus the changes in rules from Pride to UFC. Everyone but Rampage looks like crap

[Edited on September 25, 2007 at 10:03 AM. Reason : maybe crap is the wrong word but i expected better showings from the pride guys]

some have speculated that part of the reason for the flop of alot of awesome fighters is that there was no steroid testing in pride.

no what im saying is that regardless of who wins, the pride fighters do not look like themselves when they go to UFC, even if shogun and crocop won they would look 1/10 the fighter they were in pride
why?
i have no idea, they just get in there and stand and not do any of the things they are capable of

and no one is gonna convince me that UFC fighters are better than price
im a UFC fan but cmon its like comparing college football teams to NFL teams, the recent loses are unexplainable so lets not go there

i could argue the steroid thing, but i dont like to discredit fighters unless it has been proven

my theory is the rounds, in pride they had a 10 minute round which allowed a lot more time to find your range and size your opponent up and also figure out which gameplan might work best and what might not

in the ufc u have 3 five minute rounds so you kinda have to hit the ground running, not to mention the 10 point must system also encourages you to be more aggressive as opposed to prides "fought to overall greater effect" criteria

basically, both fighters hitting the ground running levels out the possible disparity in skill, which winds up being to the advantage of the fighter who fought under NSAC rules longer/most recently

(note i am not of the opinion that one organization had necessarily more talent than the other, imo thats a load of crap)

i'll still take shogun over any fighter in the world...i do prefer the pride rules much more than ufc...let them men stomp
