So, the last time I posted a job opportunity on here, it worked out well (shout out to kiljadn)
I've got another opportunity, hopefully, for someone here on tdub.
I just turned in my resignation to WebAssign as their lead UI/UX designer and so they are beginning the search for my replacement. I'd really like to find them a candidate before I leave and it'd be great to help out a fellow NCSU alum.
Requirements: You need to have EXCELLENT communication, writing, and documentation skills. A background in graphic design, interaction design or industrial design preferred. Technical skills (PHP/Flash/Jscript/HTML) are not required, but a huge bonus. You should be very proficient with some kind of rapid prototyping application (Visio preferred).
Most importantly, you should have a portfolio of work demonstrating your knowledge of good UI design, you should be able to give justification and rationale to your design decisions and provide background research when justified. Good graphic aesthetics are a plus, but not the focus.
If anyone is interested, or thinks they may be capable but just isn't sure, let me know. I'd be glad to help people figure out if they may be right for the job. Also, feel free to ask questions.
The pay is EXCELLENT for this area, the benefits are absolutely top notch as well. 9/25/2007 5:04:05 PM |

Yes, I took the job while still in the interview process for Microsoft. And well, Microsoft offered me a once in a lifetime opportunity. I honestly can't speak highly enough about how much I like working at WebAssign, both the job itself and the people. 9/25/2007 9:13:21 PM |

Sure, I'll be a user experience designer on Visual Studio Team Services. An area not many people have heard of, but it's pretty damn cool 9/25/2007 9:39:44 PM |

you gonna live in Redmond? or commute from Seattle? i'd recommend the latter. Microsoft has actually started their own express bus service from the Belltown and Capitol Hill neighborhoods. regular bus commuting (Sound Transit) from other Seattle neighborhoods to the MS Campus in Redmond isnt bad eitehr if you're near one of the (many) ST routes.
i wouldn't live out in the Eastside suburbs if i were you. you'll regret it. 9/26/2007 1:09:05 AM |

I've never been a fan of webassign's interface, but it's WAY better than the monstrosity that's WebCT/Vista. 9/26/2007 2:17:43 AM |
