There's a form you have to fill out. It's not a huge deal.

so just to clarify, you need a drivers license and the original copy of your birth certificate(not a photocopy)?

is there a chance i dont need my original birth certificate?

the drivers license isnt a problem but the rules site made it sound like i needed a birth certificate also...and i read on another part of the rules how it cant be a photocopy of the birth certificate(which blows cause the original is at home an hour away)

it has to be certified (e.g. with a seal)

photocopies aren't certified

i know it's stupid, but they're as strict as the DMV when it comes to accepting documents, especially for proof of citizenship.

just take your passport, it's much easier.

yeah, it's not too bad

in NC it's like $15 for the first one and $2 for each additional one after the 1st one. last time i went i just got like 5 copies.

oh and you should get a passport - it's a handy thing to have especially if you get an opportunity to travel out of the country.. it takes like 4 months to get that shit, yo.

thanks...the 5 copies thing is a good idea, just to have some extra ones for cheap...and good idea on the passport...might as well try to get the passport now if its a 4 month wait

you have to go to the ssa and wait for like a million hours while a grumpy fat guy in a security uniform yells at everyone and complains about how he hates his job and threatens to kick you out if you keep playing games on your cell phone
