2 from Wilmington

seems like they had a run in prior to the UL game as they all didnt get much playing time.

prolly something with drugs or team regulations that were broken but I dont know.

could be anything but thats the most obvious.

fine, most fans are considering this season a bust (excuse me, "rebuilding year")... if it's a disciplinary issue then by all means take the opportunity to kick the troublemakers off of the team...

Bond hasn't played at all this year has he?

Levin Neal showed talent and ability but never seemed to be able to put it together.

Franklin sucked ass as a punter and we have other options.

doesnt say whether they were kicked off or released

dont be dicks about this guys. i mean 3 kids just lost their free rides for a good education from what was probably a dumb mistake.

good luck to the 3 of them and i hope they can get their lives together so they can play ball again sometime or at least make it back to some sort of college.

Boo-hoo they are getting a free education while I have to take out loans and work my ass off. I made it into NCSU on academics not playing football, which they don't even do that well. I am sorry but if you are a scholarship athlete you should keep your nose clean. I mean most of these guys wouldn't even be in college if it wasn't for football. So I am not sorry for them.

I would say for most football players . . . it is anything but a "good education." Very few choose meaningful degrees.

bond will probably end up at ECU and return a kick or two against us down the road.

franklin? no loss.

neal? he's no better than deandre morgan, jc neal, or hopefully dominique ellis and justin byers

Didn't some fight break out at the velvet lounge last week with our guys?

Drugs were not involved. TOB simply said they didn't want to be part of the team.

If drugs or foul play were involved, they would have been kicked off the team. These guys are all getting releases. I'm also sure that TOB would not have commented on it if foul play were involved because there is usually some kind of police investigation that goes with those things.

I think it had more to do with them not wanting to practice. Crouch said earlier today that he wasnt vocal in practice like he was in games and some players/coaches called him out for it. They want it from him 24/7. My guess is that these guys did not want to bring it 24/7 and Tom is doing the right thing by letting them go wherever they want.

Word is that Bond has been lazy since we offered him. Not surprising that this happened.

FWIW TOB said in his interview that Levin approached him last week about getting a release and TOB tried to convince him to stick it out for the season and see if things came together for him.

so this leaves how many players now? after the injuries, and now this, aren't we in the 60s or close to it?

What's the over/under on when TOB reaches out to Lowe to get BBall players on the field?

Fells can play WR and he'd catch all of those balls in the endzone that were 10 feet in the air with his go-go-gadget orangutan arms.

I'm pretty sure we were at 70 scholarship players. There are 3 out for the season (Baker, Hill, Tedder) and these 3, so that bring it down to about 64.

not sure what that guy is counting, but he's got a bunch extra. From PP:

Quote :
"14 redshirt seniors 14 (2003)
5 srs
4 redshirt jrs 9 (2004)
6 jrs
10 redshirt sophmores 13 (2005)
3 sophmores
11 redshirt freshman 14 (2006)
19 freshman 19 (2007)"

72-(Neal + Franklin + Bond + A. Hill + T. Baker + J. McCuller ) = 66

Although I thought I remembered TOB begin quoted recently saying that we only had 70 on scholly

might just be the tip of the iceberg... from what I understand the locker room isn't a happy place at all... with a lot of players almost refusing to practice or put forth half an effort on the field.

I'm sure there are some that are, and they will be the future of the team. It's a different world from CTC to TOB, some of these guys just can't take it, or don't want to.

Regardless of who the coach is, having 1 win is going to cause frustration...these guys are competitors and want to win. Change is never easy...it takes time to build a new identity...

of course they dont, you go from a guy like CTC who was all about natural strength and speed getting your wins and not caring what kind of work habit you have(see TA) to a guy like TOB.

I swear if TA had TOB...but o well

and you know what if these kids cant buy into TOB and realize what he does for them ala BC then they can go ahead and walk out the door, there are plenty of kids on this campus and team that deserve to take their money and their playing time.

great point, there are a couple of walk-ons that are listed on the depth charts for the FSU game. It shows that hard work pays off with TOB. From what I've heard you have to be invited to walk on, and just because you walked on last year and made the practice squad or what have you, didn't mean squat this year.

isn't that how they were with CTC towards the end too? wouldn't do anything for him?

hopefully most will turn out like DeJuan Morgan and recommit themselves to the team and do what is necessary.

DeJuan "Captain" Morgan is one of the bright spots on this years team. He brings it seemingly every play. Thank you Jim Tressell for taking away his scholarship so he could end up here. DeJuan is a player. I can't wait to see what he can do next year too.

Someone should photoshop his head on here and an opposing player underneath his foot.
