Okay, how screwed am I?
My wife's sunroof on her C230 won't close. When you press the button to close you here a clicking. My guess is that there is a gear that has some broken teeth/stripped, etc.
Manually cranking the sunroof closed is very hard to do. However pressing the power button to open the sunroof and it slides right back up easily.
Any idea what the problem is and how much it will cost to fix? 10/3/2007 12:18:37 AM |

close it and remove button so the wife doesn't open it back up.
Go invest in the full service manual of that car. You can find some resource online for free. If your mechanically inclined, just look up the diagram for that assembly and see what could be at fault. 10/3/2007 12:39:19 AM |

You should check it for an obstruction. 10/3/2007 7:23:59 PM |

sounds like the same problem I had on my saturn. Basically little plastic rollers that move the sunroof, groove into the plastic rails they're in. After a while one of them gets stuck in the groove which fucks the adjoining one on the other side. If it's partway up/down on one side that's what it is.
Shit was like 800 bucks for a saturn, so I have no idea how much for you. 10/4/2007 11:24:03 AM |

I've sat on many a door, but, by their own admission, the Benz falls a little short of holding me up.10/4/2007 11:30:55 AM |

You're not screwed. Push the button so that it would make the sunroof go to the vent position. It should close. You'll need to reset the sunroof control by holding the button in the close position for five seconds. 10/6/2007 9:15:03 PM |
