is this a serious question? theres a segment of our society that cant pull 700 bucks or whatever out of their ass for a new computer.
but they dont have good enough credit for a mastercard or a best buy financing card or whatever
so they have to go with the 3000% interest place if they want the computer
theres your answer ![](images/smile.gif) 10/13/2007 6:43:42 PM

1. higher education in a scientific field or business management 2. get a job in a lucrative field 3. save money and pay off debts accumulated in (1) (during this step do not accumulate debts you can not pay off, with the exception of real estate) 4. profit (literally)

I went on their website and did a comparison (without registering the website won't give you the details of payment).
HP Workstation xw8400 Dual Core You only pay: $52.99 a week.
Assuming $52.99/wk for 52 weeks (I don't know what the other payments are) You Pay: $2755.48
The system is available through HP's website identically configured for: You should pay: $1882
This constitutes an annual interest rate of: 38.26%
Let's do another one: HP xw4400 You pay: 31.99/wk Total: 1663.48 Actual Price: $856
This constitutes an annual interest rate of: 66.87%] 10/13/2007 10:03:46 PM

HP Compaq Business Desktop dc5100 You only pay: $21.99 a week. Total: 1143.48
Available online NEW with a FASTER PROCESSOR for: $249
This constitutes an annual interest rate of: 154.70% (I'm thinking an interest rate this high might be illegal) 10/13/2007 10:17:26 PM

Quote : | "Product costs Their main product is a personal computer system for which they charge a total of $2178.48 including interest, subject to late fees. Radio commercials state that a customer must build a "short credit history" to qualify. The payment is made through a long installment plan. Initially, customers pay a $99 down payment, followed by 13 weekly payments of $39.99. This is followed by 3 to 12 variable payments. Customers then make a final pre-shipping payment, followed by a week-long waiting period, before the system is physically shipped. Post-shipment, customers must make 52 more weekly payments (1 year - see chart below). Comparable computer systems generally cost $400 out-of-the-box. [2 " |

they've made changes to the way you pay and it's not readily available on their website.
but it looks like the raping has decreased in egregiousness
