I just upgraded to the TI 89 from the 83. Its pretty awesome but I keep hitting the wrong keys because I'm so uses to the 83.

Also can the 89 do definite integrals? I have the titanium edition if that means anything.

I would argue this is proto-text messaging as this existed before modern SMS protocol.

I remember finishing a section of my AP Statistics test early in high school and using my free time to play a game on my TI-89. My TI-89 proceeded to crash and I couldn't answer a single question in the next section. I got up and left.

You absolutely can. But the thing you can't do with your phone that you can with an old school calculator? Use it during a test.

^^^^^ yeah, I guess it's pretty much a monopoly, and an inelastic market.

Nobody else wants to wade into a market to develop an underdog product that would be far obsolete on day one, that could only either (a) fail, or (b) drastically drive the price down for its own segment. There's no win.

...all TI has to do is keep the price barely on the reality train enough that it's not worth it to anyone concerned to do anything other than say "Fuck it."


on the other hand, the market ought to be so flooded with $25 graphing calculators on eBay that nobody would ever buy one new. Few people need one after they're done with school, and it's not like they wear out. They've made them for decades without alteration.

The only use i've ever had for a graphing calc was .. nothing.

I will never see the use for a graphing calculator. Curve matching is easier by hand anyway.
