I was watching 1408 last night and the main character said the hotel had a legal obligation to rent him the room. I think thats a bullshit law they made up and the hotel can refuse service to anyone. Does anyone know the law regarding hotel rental policy?

They can deny you a room. I'm not sure if there has to be a legitament reason though. A lot of national chain hotels have a list of people they won't rent to.. so if you do something like shit in the lobby you'll be added to the list and never be able to stay at one of their hotels again
