So recently, some friends of mine and I were re-casting for a hypothetical re-make of Casablanca:

Rick Blaine: Mark Wahlberg (he's impressed me before doing out-of-type acting)
Victor Laszlo: Adrian Brody
Ilsa Lund: Jennifer Connely
Captain Renault: Kevin Spacey?
Major Strasser: Ed Harris
Ugarte: Steve Buscemi
Signor Farrari: Michael Caine
Sam: Cuba Gooding Jr. (throwaway I know)

Anyway, feel free to call me out on our choices or post your ideas for others here tee-dub.

now, i've never seen casablanca (which i need to do), but marky mark would be far down on my list for the lead in a remake of a movie of such prestige.

and i thought he was mediocre at best in the departed.

You should see it. I thought about Clooney, but I don't think he could pull it off, he's always got this sleazy charm about him . . . at least to me. Andy Garcia came to mind as well.
