Every year really...

***WARNING - WORDS***

Based on the popularity of last year's "This is Not Red" ESPNU ad TWW shirt campaign, it got me thinking about what we could do for basketball season...

So I got an idea.

Some of you may be familiar with the "legacy/dynasty" tshirts that were made popular last year by undrcrwn.com, the NBAstore.com and then parodied by blogs based on subject.

Examples:

undrcrwn.com, the Fab 5

undrcrwn.com, '85-86 Celtics

and then some of the parodies/bootlegs/jokes from a DC based blog

Duke/Florida starting fives

the '98 bullets/wizards bench

and this guy is wearing one that says

me&
you&
yo mama&
yo cousin
too

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then I saw this on undrcrwn:

as part of the new fall collection

and while they are both ASS ugly, i was thinking, F that, state should get a shirt as well. thus, the '83 Championship Legacy tshirt idea was "born/stolen/bootlegged"

I made one that has the starting 5 from the 83 championship team, with Sid's name at the bottom since he's our coach. I figured they'd be money to wear to games to support the team, Sid, and the heritage of Pack basketball.

That's the reasoning behind this thread:

http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=498054

I wasn't sure if I wanted to do the starting 5 or the 5 who were on the floor at the end, but i figured it was more of an homage to the team to do the starting 5.

I've already ordered up 12 of yet to be determined sizes, and they're supposed to be done in the next week or so once i officially place the order.

They would run appx. $15+ S&H a piece, to cover my costs to buy them and individually mail them. If these are popular and I end up actually making any amount of money off of them, I will donate at least half of the proceeds to the Jimmy V foundation, if not more...just have to see how my costs get covered. Just want people to enjoy them and not end up out of pocket.

I will even post the cashed check to the Jimmy V foundation from my bank account at the end of the run for whatever amount is made/donated.

As I said, right now I've only done a minimum order with the shirt printer, but if demand is great enough, I will see what I can do about a larger order.

So use this thread to let me know your interest. You guys are good at making running lists, so make one of those where I can easily evaluate the order sizes/quantities, if any.

Also, I am not local in Raleigh anymore, but will take the time to mail or if there is a large amount of people that want them, I might be able to ship a box down to friends to distribute at bball games.

considering that i'd be taking the time to hand mail almost ALL of these as well as trekking upwards of half an hour away to pick them up, i think a small amount of the potential profit is not too much to ask. everyone's time is worth something.

i dont think any of the people on the "THIS IS NOT RED" shirts were even that altruistic. That is not to speak of them as individuals, of course...

haha

ok

if your name is Simonn, all the proceeds will be donated to JV Foundation

everyone else understands that shit costs money.

not starting a business, just thought it was a cool idea for some shirts...i mean i could always just make 12 and keep it at that...not motivated by profit here, just as I'm sure the guys making the ESPNU ad shirts were not.

you could sell them much cheaper

but I like red for games

if you decide to get crazy and have a '74 shirt made, i'd buy one of those too. that team's more deserving of a "dynasty" shirt anyway, although neither were actually a dynasty.

^ definitely red for games. why don't you just make them pwrstrkdf250, that way i don't have to send an alias w/ 4 posts money.

[Edited on October 15, 2007 at 7:40 PM. Reason : pwrstrkdf250 is a++++++++++++++++++, would buy again]

we should do another limited edition reprint of the "This is not Red" shirts. The demand for them is still pretty high and it'd do much better.

nah i already have one of those. i like this idea. someone also needs to make a red tshirt w/ the outline of a blazer on the front. that'd be hot shit.

plus w/ these, people who aren't statefans won't read it and go all

well i intend to make more if the demand is there.

if greg wants to distribute ill even be happy to ship him a box down to NC for distribution

the red looks a whole lot better than the white...i've messed around with both styles

also, i've been on this board for a while, i just don't have the password to my old name anymore

it may be much easier to do it that way

I need to see about having a small run of the "this is not red" shirts made once again also

damn wimmens keep "borrowing" my personal shirts and hoodies when they are here and I never see them again

hmm, I'll check on the 74 also... but the cost comes in by having to have a new screen made for each style, plus a red shirt has to be screened two times so it doesn't come off in the wash

my screener kept my "this is not red" screen, since he said I would be "needing it again" lol

i thought about 74, and we could do that too, but i thought the relevance would be greater with the 83 team because sid is our coach and all...it supports him and the Jimmy V foundation in a pretty money way

I'm sure if we get enough and get the price right, most people would want both anyhow

don't think I'm gonna mess with hoodies... although the 83 would make a good hoodie

i didn't buy a 'this is not red' hoodie (b/c they were fucking white, of course they weren't red lawl), but i'd buy a hoodie of this one methinks.

***UPDATE***

greg and I may work together to get costs down/employ local distribution at games, etc. stay tuned for updates

as far as hoodies, while im not one to discourage market forces, i feel like it betrays the concept of the shirt and its background....i would vote against it, but again, the market does what it wants...

haha

^^ yeah, once we get this figured out we'll start a new superthread for them...

also I'm probably gonna go ahead and make another run of "this is not red" shirts

please don't start bombarding me with emails just yet though!

we'll get this figured out and then we'll set it up with contact info and all that so we can be organized like before

^lol, it seemed like a good idea at the time

glad we didn't do that

^ you should talk to the bigger alumni chapters... they could either buy them and give them out, or at the very least tell their members about them and give them a way to get in touch with you

but they're kinda touchy about that stuff

even Pack Pride deletes any comments about them

but that didn't stop a few hundred people from showing up at my parking spot last year to buy shirts

yeah, im in DC, and once we get the details figured out, im going to hit the DC alumni association up.

the only thing is, a lot of people aren't familiar with this kind of shirt (i.e. the original premise) so without going through the whole schpeil, its tough to sell them on the idea

honestly, i think you'll find that they'll get a nice reception even though they don't know the shirt's background.

if you showed one to me w/o telling me about them, i'd still want one. it's not like they're any different than the original shirts (that became popular). just in state version.

my two cents, doing the current team would be as dumb as doing the thank heavens for evans shirt, because we're bound to have injuries or changes in the lineup...it's not as if we're a top 10 team with a cemented starting 5 of nba bound players...

74 would be cool, bc everyone wants to throw in DT and all that, and its definitely throwback,

but i feel like if you're wearing this shirt around town, and to games, let's stick with 83 and support coach lowe...and the heritage of the program, which DOES include norm sloan and the 73-74 squad, but none of whom are currently at the helm of the ship, as it were...

i debated all this for like two weeks before dropping this thread, with myself and with other wolfpack fans who are friends.
