Homogenized, pasteurized milk from intensively farmed animals =
(and it is "bad" for you, k?)
Until I could get my hands on some http://www.realmilk.com , I am not going to drink milk. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raw_milk )
I drink kefir/lassi/ayran/Actimel only, a gallon per week.

So what is the deal with soy milk? I heard that's supposed to be good for your cholesterol or something. How does that taste compared to regular milk? If I were to put it in my cereal, how different would it be? 10/22/2007 4:40:15 PM

^^^^ wow you are full of wisdom indeed, aren't you? that rolly face says a thousand words... no need to explain why you say that.
so for several millenia (up until 1900s) people were retarded for drinking raw milk? and if you think it is dangerous to drink it, read up on it. you will be surprised. and some research suggests that it might be a lot more healthful than homogenized pasteurized milk.
heck, hundreds of millions of people still drink raw milk from tens of different animals daily all over the world. no one is dying from it. in fact, they are some of the healthiest people out there (no, i am not necessarily saying it is the raw milk which makes them healthy).
just something from wikipedia to get you started:
Quote : | "In recent years, there has been growing consumer interest in raw (unpasteurized) milk products, due to potential health benefits. Advocates point out that many beneficial components of milk are destroyed by pasteurization. Specifically, raw milk contains immunoglobulins and the enzymes lipase and phosphatase, which are inactivated by heat. Raw milk contains vitamin B6, but the heat treatment may cause as much as 20% of the vitamin to be lost. Pasteurization also kills some of milk's naturally-occurring bacteria, such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, useful for the culturing of yogurt. Raw milk proponents point out that these "friendly" bacteria aid digestion and boost immunity." |
