Badass. If it hadn't nicked that artery, they wouldn't have had to chop his head open. They could have just pulled the knife out, slapped a bandage on him and sent him back to work.

I read a National Geographic article that said the medics (nurses and such over here) in Iraq absolutely love the job after the shock of being there for the first month or two, since they can do all sorts of drastic surgeries that they can't even think about doing in America.
