About three weeks ago my dog pooped some yellow diarrhea all over the house. Hes a small puppy, maybe 25 pounds (lab mix), but he seriously pooped like at least a gallon out. Then he did it again yesterday while in his crate. And again today. We havent had a chance to bring him to the vet yet as he lives with my gf 45 minutes away and he doesnt seem to have any other health issues (Hes being brought to the vet this weekend), but anyone have any idea what it could be?

Make sure he's not doing anything like drinking from a creek, rainwater out of a birdbath, or anything like that. In order to output a gallon of fluid, it has to get in first.

Give him fresh water and keep an eye on him when he's outside.

Yeah he drinks a ton of water, and he isnt drinking from anywhere other then his bowl.

Is he vomiting at all? I had a similar issue a few weeks after I got my dog, and it turned out to be a bacterial infection in his intestinal tract/bowels. Definitely get him to a vet soon.

Sounds like pretty much the same symptoms that my dog had. He got healthy again very quickly after the trip to the vet (where I believe they administered some combination of a cortisone and anti-biotic injection, and then put him on a two week regime of oral anti-biotic). You're definitely wise to take him to the vet tomorrow. I hope he's feeling better soon.

Just to expand a little bit on my assessment of your situation...my dog had an initial bout of diarrhea (similar to what you described) a couple weeks before we finally took him to the vet. The diarrhea recurred a couple times after that, and then one morning he had several particularly bad bouts of it, accompanied by vomiting. It was at this point that we took him to the vet. And aside from these bouts of diarrhea and vomiting, he seemed completely healthy, and not in any visible discomfort.

Anyway...good luck tomorrow, and if you have a chance, post an update after he goes to the vet.

a little late now, since youre going to the vet tomorrow, but when your dog (or anyone for that matter) vomits and/or has diarrhea a lot in a short period... they need to have their fluids and electrolytes replaced, or run the risk of organ failure from dehydration.

for adults, Gatorade will really help. and kids, they have stuff called Pedialyte. i dont know what you would use for dogs, but there must be something.

anyhow, this just treats the secondary effects, doesnt affect the root cause of the problem. but still, its important in the recovery.

^^ Very good advice. I totally forgot to mention that the vet also had us give the dog Pedialyte instead of water for a day or two. I also keep a bottle at the back of my fridge for him just in case. He wasn't a big fan of drinking it at first, but we just kept him near the bowl and rewarded him with steamed white rice and ground beef (which the vet will probably tell you to feed him for a couple days...the rice helps to solidify the dog's bowel movements) after he drank a bit. Once he figured out the reward system, he was all about the Pedialyte.

boiled hamburger and white rice will ease the stomach. being a puppy...there's a chance it could be parvo if he isnt fully vaccinated and has been in areas where other dogs have been...so dont let him around any more til you have him checked out.
