That would like to get hired by me?

I need a corporate accountant for my business to basically take care of payroll taxes and quarterly corporate taxes.

My company cannot yet afford the price of $1500 I am getting quoted.

S-Corp, C-Corp? How many checks do you write a month? How many payroll checks? Do you file you payroll taxes monthly or quarterly? Do you have credit cards within the business? What is the nature of the business?

$1500 is a fair quote for everything you are going to be getting. This is one area you should never skimp on.

It's an S-Corp. I formed an S-Corp to get the benefit of tax savings and not having to pay social security on dividends. If I'm going to have to pay $1500 for an accountant, it would've been easier to form an LLC and just pay taxes and double social security at my marginal rate.

I write maybe a check or two a month. No credit cards. One employee (myself). I'll be filing payroll taxes quarterly (although I haven't written myself a check yet because I need to get this shit in order).

I just can't justify $1500 for that, especially considering I've paid my 1099 contractor a shit load of money, then my accountant would be getting money before I even pay myself. Something is backwards here...

Do you have a debit card? I guess my real question is how many transactions do you have month?

Based on what you have said $1500 is a little steep.

If you want to do payroll yourself you can go through http://www.accountsworld.com. They will probably charge $15 a month or so. It will be really easy to do your bi-weekly or monthly payroll through them then file your quarterly payroll taxes.

Then find a halfway decent tax preparer to do your S-Corp and Individual returns. We start at $400 for an S-Corp so look around that price range.

yeah, if I can manage payroll myself, I intend to have someone file my corporate taxes.

As far as transactions go, maybe 10 a month.

THanks for the URL... what I'm having trouble with now is getting my damned ID numbers from every state and federal agency i have to give money to. I suppose I can't do anything with that company until i have my identification numbers (the only one I have is my federal tax id and my id issued by the secretary of state of NC)

^^ Will quickbooks basically do the same thing? I subscribed to their payroll service, but I'm waiting to get my IDs so I can set the product up.

It will but you just need to make sure you are filing everything. Quickbooks wont watch your back.
