Well, that, and the smart ones can get out.
US immigration law is incredibly strict. Unless you can make a damn good case for being a refugee, your odds of getting over here from Africa as anything less than a smart cookie are pretty much nonexistant.11/8/2007 11:11:29 PM |

see that's the thing though. i don't recall ever meeting any particularly well educated Ethiopians, South Africans, Congese, Sudanese, Algerians, Botswanians, etc

A lot of those have a better chance of qualifying as refugees. The exception would be South Africans, but in South Africa you don't need to be *quite* such a genius to get into college, either, if only because there's a college to get into.11/8/2007 11:39:06 PM |
