also remember, Catholics - DO NOT SUPPORT politicians who support the death penalty!
http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/secretariat_state/documents/rc_seg-st_doc_20010621_death-penalty_en.html

And birth control, too. Disavow any candidate who has admits to using birth control in his/her past!

so...... who does that leave you with?

I could make so much money if I started a religion based on environmentalism. The market for lovehate-based religions is so cluttered.

Basically any fundamentalist religion with rigid views of how society should be preaches intolerance through direct or indirect means. This creates a religion of hate where there should be love for one another regardless of how someone may be different from you as long as they are not a bad person.

Hey Catholics:

remember when voting, that the One and Holy Apostolic Catholic Church does not have a stated position regarding NAMBLA.

But it should be painfully obvious what that stance would be if they did have one...

Jesus doesn't want you to support children's healthcare. Remember, the bible said also said the good Samaritan stepped over the man on the side of the road because he was a dirty liberal and the free market choses the winners.

I don't see what that has to do with this thread, but if you want to draw a good samaritan analogy, the good samaritan personally helped the dude on the side of the road rather than voting for the government to help him.

Yeah, I think there's something to that...

Yeah, it means we should let the private sector deal with that bum and not make people pay as much taxes.

35.5 million go hungry in the US each year, almost a million people homeless.

Seems like your charity argument holds little water.

Seeing as we're no closer to winning the War on Poverty since LBJ started one of his many, many wars, I'd almost be still tempted to say "social attitudes..."

I'm glad that someone finally stepped forward to disprove the age old stereotype that Catholics are just slaves to what the pope tells them.

Isn't that kind of obvious?

Find me one catholic (who isn't clergy) whose never used any form of birth control, condoms, saved themselves till marriage, and not even masturbated.

Catholics - only support politicians who are for quick withdrawal from Iraq!

Quote :
" "As pastors and teachers, we are convinced that the current situation in Iraq remains unacceptable and unsustainable," the document says.

The statement issued Nov. 13 by the conference president, Bishop William S. Skylstad of Spokane, Wash., reiterates the bishops' insistence that the transition of U.S. forces out of Iraq should take into account moral issues, such as minimizing the loss of human life, addressing the humanitarian crisis in Iraq, the situation of refugees and the protection of human rights, especially religious freedom."

http://www.the-tidings.com/2007/111607/iraq.htm

Methodists too!
Quote :
"Declaring war "incompatible with the teachings and example of Christ," the bishops of The United Methodist Church called on leaders of all nations to begin an immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

The bishops also urged against deploying additional troops to Iraq and against establishing permanent military bases in the Middle Eastern country."

http://www.wfn.org/2007/11/msg00106.html

now that the Protestants are in on this, it should make for some, ummmm, interesting church services....

Ok, so basically Catholics should vote for candidates that support aiding the poor, protecting the environment, and showing love and kindness to our neighbors (even illegal immigrants) and ALSO do not support abortion, the death penalty, gay marriage, or en vitro fertilization.

Got it. Making my decision for 2008 will now be a breeze.
