I can't believe I hadn't heard of the Foothills Trail until a few days ago. I'm thinking of hiking it in early December, provided that I don't have interviews set up or a real job by that time. Anyone ever been?

I plan on doing the AT before I turn 40, but at the moment there are more pressing dreams that are up against a time clock. Maybe when all my military obligations are up. In the mean time, this looks pretty sweet.
^ Do we start a pool now on if Nerdchick will follow you as your trail name? 11/25/2007 8:53:02 PM |

i have doen 50 miles of it twice, where i earned my first 50-miler as a boy scout, around lake jocassee
its a very pretty trail and lake, but as i remember, the stairs are(or were) a killer, just up and down a ton of stairs, but i havent been there in 7 or so years, so maybe i just liked to complain at age 14
i would reccomend it 11/25/2007 10:56:04 PM |

I'm going to thru-hike after I make my third million. I figure I'll blow through the first million like it wasn't even there, but after number three I'll be able to take some time off and assess the situation. 11/26/2007 1:16:52 AM |

Did that stretch from the falls to Table Rock a few years back. Beautiful area, but dem stairs were a bitch! 11/26/2007 8:46:20 AM |

let me know if you are gonna do it, i may be able to pull some funds together if you can do a trail assessment for us. we have a company on board that does professional trail maintenance, but we are looking to hire someone to catalogue the condition of bridges and stuff along teh trail next summer, but may be able to move the budget around a bit. 11/26/2007 7:44:09 PM |

The foothills trail is very nice. Me and some friends backpacked a couple of days, about 60 miles back in 2000. Very well maintained trail. 11/29/2007 5:18:56 PM |

^^ I'd probably be up for helping catalog it in March/April timeframe if you still have a need. 11/29/2007 5:23:15 PM |
