Hello Kind Folks,

I recently bought a Z. I just noticed today that every time i step on the gas more than a little bit, I hear a hissing noise from the engine..the hissing gets louder and louder till you ease off the gas...

Is this normal?

Thanks!

friend of mines Eclipse sounded basically like that after he added an air filter like the one you linked to. If you're that worried about it, put the original equipment back on and see if it goes away. Although, I highly doubt it's a problem.

and my warranty is still fine?

If not, I gotta give this car back...

I don't have the original..the dude who had it before sold it to the dealer I bought the car from.

I dont mind the hissing..its just i spent a shit load more so I'm under warranty the next couple of years.

your engine is full of snakes. You need a snake filter to stop the snakes from getting in.

[Edited on November 27, 2007 at 1:50 PM. Reason : the stock filter was probably snake proof. Check the new one for snake holes]

^That guy is full of shit, ignore him. He doesn't know anything about cars.

Yea my vote would be muffler bearings also. I've heard they are prone to go out on the first year of that car. Not a big deal but will cost around $200.

i think the warranty you have is prolly just on the drivetrain anyways

you need to look at the warranty you purchased to see what it covers and what changes are permitted.

just in case this thread needs a serious response, your warranty can't be voided for an aftermarket cai (cold air intake).

^^ it can, but they have to prove the problem was directly cause by the modification

edit: you're right that they can't void it just for having the cai, but if something goes wrong that they can link to it then they will not cover the repair

Now I gotta make sure this stupid pipe thing that goes into the filter from the bumper doesn't suck water.

make sure you top off your blinker fluid, when that gets low the air passing over will make a hissing noise. my guess is you are probably a quart low. go by advanced and ask for it.
