A must see!

$14000 OBO

1995 BMW 540i M-Sport
77,600 Miles
2 Owners

For those who don’t know BMW has always produced elite sport vehicles. The M series from BMW stands alone in performance and handling. As a part of introducing the M technology into vehicles the BMW 5 series got its own touch of modifications. M-Sport models contain M upgrades from the bigger M3 and M5 models. This 540i sport is one of the Rarest. Only 200 1995 540i M Sport were made and only 136 were available for sale in the US. You are now looking at one of those 136 with the 6 speed with so low miles.

Before I continue I want to advise you to look further into the work done on these cars. When you view the site my car is the 1995 540i Sport (US)
http://www.kindel.com/bmw/m540_info.htm
This site has been dedicated to the 540i m sport. Please look through it to see what it takes to make a 540i M Sport.

More about the Car

I bought the car under a year ago with 55000 miles on it. Came from a great owner who really took care of his BMW, he purchased a new M5 and had to part with this 540. The car had been taken care of so well it was an honor to own this car. I took it and updated all of its service requirements.

All work has been performed by Tony Mann, a certified BMW mechanic, at Mann Motorsports. You can visit his website at tmannmotorsports.com.

You may contact Tony at 336 662 9070 during normal business hours. He has performed all work on this car and knows it inside and out.

Items that this car came with stock plus items I have added.

I have maintained a professional low profile about the car along with sticking to the originality of BMW.

Brakes – M5 315x28mm (12.4") fixed rotors front and 300x20mm fixed rotors back.

Suspension - "Double Pivot" McPherson strut front suspension with anti-dive geometry and ECE M5 calibrations - Track link semi trailing arm rear suspension from ECE M5 with anti-squat geometry
- Self-leveling rear suspension
- Adaptive M suspension with comfort and sport programs (EDCIII+)

Steering - Power assisted steering with revised rate from ECE M5

Wheels and Tires - 17" M5/850 CSi Forged Alloy two piece Turbine II Wheels 8J x 17 front, 8J x 17 rear with Fresh Kumho ASX.

Body - M5 style aerodynamic body package without contrasting strip
-Aerodynamic M Exterior mirrors painted in body color
- Illuminated BMW M gear shift knob
- BMW M style SRS steering wheel
- BMW M door sill plates

Seats - 12 way power front sports seats with 3 position memory

Alarm - Central locking system with double locking feature and vehicle immobilizer

Windows - Power windows (front and rear) with toll function (down for all doors, up for driver’s door)

Transmission- Manual 6 speed Sport Transmission

Differential – Up-rated 2.92:1 rear differential with locker (limited slip)
- I do still have the original.

Items I have replaced on the car: As time goes parts require replacement.

Radiator – Replaced along with new surge tank

Heater Core – New

Clutch Assembly – New stock clutch

Windshield – I caught a stone on the highway and replaced with new glass by professional BMW glass repairman.

Exhaust – Since the vehicle is a no longer bound by emission regulations I had the clogged catalytic converters removed. Also the muffler has been removed to give a serious deep roar. This vehicle sounds like one of a kind. It has a very noticeable race tone. I still have the original muffler or an inexpensive flow master option will cut out the throaty sounds but maintain a level of performance sound. I will answer further questions about this.

Window Tint – I prefer a level of tint that protects my eyes from blaring sun and night lights. It is currently rated at 20% all around the car. The front windshield is tinted at 40% to remove glare and protect the inside from harmful UV rays. I can have this professionally removed if desired and deposit has been made.

Sound System – I still have to original radio but I wanted more quality sound. I had a Alpine CDA- 9887 head unit installed that works well with Harmon speakers.
More information:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-PU0TSYWma43/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?I=500CDA9887

In conjunction with the head unit:
I also have 2 10”-inch MTX subs in the rear of the car. All of this was installed by a professional at Custom Hi-Fi of Greensboro, NC.

Please feel free to contact Tony, 336 662 9070 with any questions about the car. I am also able to answer any questions or concerns thru email.

Buyer is responsible for all shipping charges. Tony is a licensed car dealer and can help with title transfer.

thats a hell of a lot of miles to put on a "rare" car in one year

and the audio and exhaust, that just lowers the value

i drive to Greensboro a good bit. I know highway miles are still miles. but 77k is still low for a 95. It was really taken care of as i continued. A car is still a car. i did buy it with the intention of putting some miles on it.

Also, i thought i would try getting rid of my sound system with the car. I do have the original radio and exhaust ready to be reinstalled.

so you put 22,000 miles on it in less than a year?

for a so called "rare" car, i figure youd have a beater for those miles

its 80 miles to greensboro from raleigh

thats ~130 round trips

Why have a car, even a nice one, if not to drive it?

I was considering this vehicle until I saw that it was twice the blue book value. Despite BMWs having an "enthusiast" crowd, I wouldn't pay twice KBB for it.

22000 miles in 13.5 months is a bit excessive for what this guy claims is a "rare" car

i really dont give a shit about your personal life

however, i do find the mileage you put on it, the "rare"-ness, the head issues, and the price all amusing

thx for playing

Tmac_NC... havent you learned that selling shit on TWW, unless it is litterally worth less than 10$ is basically pointless. You are going to be insulted, bloodied, and possibly raped in the process.

this vehicle will FAIL nc inspection. what the seller has failed to mention is that while it is no longer required to pass a sniffer test, it IS required to pass a visual inspection.

quit trying to rip people off, asshole.

Thanks jlcoburn,

Once again i was only trying to let other college students know about the car before i sold it on ebay. Clearly this car had been torn apart on here but it was worth a shot.

Thank you blue ram, the car WILL AND HAS passed NC inspection. All work has been done very professionally and looks good. Not every modification has to be done chop shop style. Happy posting!

Anything without cats newer than 74 (I think) will fail, and any road going vehicle is required to have a muffler.

so all in all it's is illegal for public roadways, and you clearly state that in the ad

no, you're an idiot. not only will the car not legally pass nc inspection, should you happen to get caught on the road without them have fun paying out the ass in big ticket fines. they don't take emissions stuff lightly anymore.

you're also potentially setting yourself up for legal problems since you're the person that has openly admitted on here to tampering with and disabling emissions equipment. this isn't just a slap on the wrist from the local municipality, these are federal regulations.

as for when they became mandatory equipment, they were grandfathered in year by year depending on gvwr. 1974 was the first year for cars.

furthermore, i would be very wary of the seller of such a "nice, rare car" who is too cheap to have the parts replaced. what else have you taken shortcuts on or just eliminated because it was cheaper than doing it the right way?

bottom line, take your scamming crap elsewhere. quit lying and trying to screw someone over here. besides the above mentioned legal issues, it's not exactly an inexpensive proposition to have oem equivalent or better converters put on. i won't even go into how it's an asshole thing to do on moral/environmental grounds. removing the converters on any stock engined modern vehicle is pointless from a performance standpoint.

no one here really cares about you, they care about the general public.

if we can stop some random joe from getting shanked by you, we will.

you clearly said in your post what the problem was, yet you also said it was legal, which it wasnt.
