I want to install some clear strobes (switch included) in my headlights but I know next to nothing about wiring. I already know it's illegal but I don't care. How do I connect the strobes to my car battery, do I run the wires directly to the battery terminals? The instructions are very vague: "connect black/white wire to positive and black wire to negative ground". Does the negative wire go to the negative terminal or does it get bolted to the car frame? Do I need to worry about moisture if the wires run straight to the battery? Please help!

You can't run it straight to the battery. You need to run a switched relay to inside your car. Search for a fog light harness if you just want to buy something.

It came as a kit, with transformer attached, and I also bought a control module that varies the speed and flash patterns. It's made to be wired directly to the electrical system, how would I do that?

That's because it's legal to for emergency personnel to have them on their personal vehicles if they are authorized volunteers who use their own vehicles to reach an emergency scene.

I know we had them on a DOT vehicle we used for bridge inspections on federal highways (put into the headlights).

I figured you could install them on your vehicle to use on construction sites and stuff if you weren't on a roadway. Am I wrong? Hmm... *google*

(e) High Mounted Flashing Deceleration Lamps. – Public transit vehicles may be equipped with amber, high mounted, flashing deceleration lamps on the rear of the vehicle.
