What's with them not price matching other markets in the country?

Quote :
"BestBuy.com Price Matching/Price Guarantee

If you've made a BestBuy.com purchase and discover a lower price offered on our Web site or at a Best Buy store on the same available brand and model, let us know and we'll match that price on the spot, tax included.

Exclusions:
The BestBuy.com Price Guarantee does not apply to competitors' offers; third-party offers; online auction sites; shipping charges; clearance and open-box items (when price matching with a Best Buy store); special offers or promotions such as mail-in incentives, gift-with-purchase and financing offers; services such as installation; or typographical errors.
"

any way around this? Were they just BSing so they didn't have to honor the price?

i think the bigger question should be: what's with them not price matching competitor's offers?

isn't that what price matching is?

and where does is say they don't match prices from other best buy stores?

thats the line i got from one of the people in the store today. that compaq laptop for 449 is 399 in a lot of other markets, brooklyn, atlanta, buffalo to name a couple. I had the guy pull up their ads on their computer and right there they had the exact same laptop, same ad for 399. told me that it would have to be within 30 miles for them to do it (i dont even think there's a BB within 30mi of greenville)

I bought it anyway and I'm keeping it sealed until I talk to customer service. If I can't have my way (zomg it's only 50 bucks lewser!!11) im just gonna return it. I can justify a 399 impulse buy because im tired of not having wireless or a battery pack that works....but 480 OTD gives me too much remorse. Then they tried to charge me 130 bucks for that "Optimization" bullshit they do with AV and data protection etc and the guy that was helping me check the other markets came up and was like "nah, they dont have to pay for it"

To top it off and conclude this lengthy crap that no one is gonna read...I was a gentleman and let this chick in before me(small line 5-7 ppl) then afterwards thinking to myself "damn it looks like she's headed for the laptops" sure enough she goes up and ganks the tag and was like "oh is this what you were after too?" luckily they had like 4, but i was gonna curse the karma gods if she turned out to be a bitch. I think since the cashier charged her 130 for optimization it maxed out her CC and she ended up not getting one anyway so maybe they still would have worked in my favor...

that is really retarded they dont match competitor's prices. i use to work at circuity city, and they were good about matching prices IF it was available within a 50 mile radius.

good luck getting that reversed...and watch out for the restocking fee.

it's not a competitor per se. It's another branch of the same store...granted in another market but come on.

^I'm hoping there won't be one during the xmas return period

when i worked at BB about a 2 yrs ago if someone yelled at the manager they got what they wanted. I cant tell you how many times ppl would yell at me then ask for the manager and he would bend over backwards and make me look like an ass for following the rules they told us to follow.
But it may have changed, but i doubt it my grandfather has gotten so much from them just by yelling.

I took the opposite approach. Bestbuy technically isn't supposed to price match other market regions. Everywhere in NC it's 449. I had just read on slickdeals about success stories in store so I tried to work it. Anyway, great customer service rep when I called .I made the general small talk asking about weather and how they're doing etc and the guy ended up marking the difference down as a courtesy gift card for me so accounting wouldn't get irate.

Yelling is one way, which I usually do with difficult outsourced ISP reps but i've found much more success just acting like a decent human being towards them. Countless sprint reps have helped me out just because I was nice.

this was an in-store deal only. They technically don't have to price match an ad that isn't in our local market. Which, every 399 laptop deal was not a part of. Regardless, I'm satisfied with the 50 dollar GC it will make a good stocking stuffer. Hopefully the laptop is just a small pile of mouse droppings and not a huge stinking 120 day old massive pile of elephant shit. Gonna wipe all the retarded bestbuy partition mess off and either put vista ultimate or xppro.

looks like these were on sale because they were returned at some point.

http://money.cnn.com/2013/02/19/news/companies/best-buy-price-match-guarantee/index.html

Quote :
"The chain says it will now match advertised prices from brick-and-mortar rivals as well as 19 major online competitors, such as Amazon (AMZN, Fortune 500), starting March 3. The price guarantees will be year round and apply to virtually all items. Previously, the company's price-match policy was limited to holiday shopping periods and featured items."

just put this to the test yesterday. wanted a relatively cheap 32" LCD TV/DVD combo for our guest room, found one at walmart.com for $268. Best Buy had the same thing for $299 (on sale from $349). I showed the CSR the walmart price on my phone, and they knocked the price down to match without any pushback. He just had the Manager approve the price match and I was out the door.

I've always had terrible experiences buying, returning, or otherwise doing business with Best Buy, but clearly they're finally putting some emphasis on customer service. It's been several years since i've tried to buy anything there, but i'm definitely more inclined to buy something there again.

The closest stores to Greenville (NC that is) are the Wilson stores, and the Morehead stores.

The new price match SUCKS! I can only price match an item once & only within 15 days if Best Buy lowers the price. This is in no way better than the 30 day guarantee from any store, however many times I wanted to match it.

I was in the Jacksonville store the other day to buy a jawbone icon HD and told the rep I read they were pricematching amazon. She pulled it up on her smartphone and immediately adjusted the price. Then she checked my other item (thunderbolt ethernet adapter) and I told her she didn't have to waste her time because I knew that would be in line but she did it anyway.

Is this Best Buy's way of making up for their fake in-store websites?
