Here is the problem. My wireless router is upstairs. The signal is very weak once it makes its way down stairs to my desktop. It often disconnects or just doesn’t see it. Well I have another wireless router in my closet that I am not using.

Is there a way I can connect my wireless router to my desktop and use it to connect to the other wireless router upstairs wirelessly. Both routers have dual antennas and probably are stronger than my single antenna wireless card on my desktop.

yeah, totally depends on whether that is a feature of one of the routers you have. Many of the cheaper ones dont have that option...

You need to connect the wireless router downstairs to your computer and configure it to NOT be a DHCP server.

The wireless router upstairs needs to be configured to give a static IP (based on MAC address) to the wireless router downstairs. I also think you need to have two different SSID's (not 100% sure though).

I'm sure there are a few other settings but you should be able to check out the manufacturers websites for details. Check and see if one of your routers supports bridging or mentions acting as an access point.

It'll also help if the routers are the same brand/model.
