they didnt even mention 1 word about the Canes game last night. They showed highlights from 4 other NHL games, but not even a peep about 2 goals in the last 1:30 of regulation to force OT.

If it were the Penguins, they'd be changing their pants.

I hate ESPN's "logic" in their programming, but they're miles better than Fox Sports.

have you seen this shit now where they are making people vote on the greatest sports highlights, then they are going to seed them and put them in a bracket and let us "vote" on what is the greatest sports highlight of all time.

First this has been overdone by everyone over and over, second why the fuck does espn insist on taking everything, putting it into a bracket, and making us vote on shit over and over.

My overall sports knowledge was so much better 10 years ago when espn just did highlights, I knew players names, stats, and what teams were doing well. All I know now from ESPN is that Tiger Woods is Now, and I have an odd infatuation with drinking Budweiser while sitting on a warm stool.

for instance, this morning's "top ten plays" included:

michael jordan shooting jump shots with the bobcats at practice....uhhh OK

some dude surfing (this was like #5)....surfing? really, surfing? a top ten play? oook

some run-of-the-mill, happens everyday in high schools around the country during gym class, dunk during the kentucky-houston game at #1 for the sole reason that houston won the game

when they used to have a story repeat ad naseum or give it a shitload of coverage, it was something major. Kobe rape trial, OJ murder case, Jordan's comebacks, etc...

Now they'll ramble on for a week about baseball cheating gossip and hearsay, 4 months about the NFL draft, Parcells not changing jobs, and other dumb shit that could easily be summed up in a reasonable amount of time.

But rather than cover sports thoroughly, they'd rather go sensationalistic like the 24 hour news outlets. There's no reason they can't give the NHL box scores if nothing else (oh wait, they don't televise it), maybe talk more about FB and BB recruiting since ya know, people care about it.

this new "E:60" show

ok first of all, i liked it better when it was called "outside the lines"

but somehow outside the lines morphed into a mini, mid-day sportscenter, just rehashing the same stories that have been reported on all day long.

and why did they incorporate that contrived, bullshit, black and white, round-table meeting.....thing...on E:60. i won't watch the show solely because of that

But seriously, what do you expect when there's no competition? Vista is a fairly crappy OS -- there's no inventive to innovate when the next biggest competitor holds ~6% of the market.

The media in general has just gone to pot. Everything's a tabloid now. And I can listen to Mike & Mike in the morning for 20 minutes or 4 hours and learn EXACTLY the same amount of knowledge either way. Ridiculous.

mike and mike have annoyed me recently. I understand why they loop the same 3 or four topics. But it's the same shit every thirty minutes. That's honestly my only real complaint. ESPN has many some improvements, I'm a fan of the sidebar which lets me know what is coming up in the following segments. if it says "NHL" I know that I can change the channel for a few minutes.
