to turn off automatically after a few minutes of inactivity?

they should turn off automatically after 5 or 10 minutes.. or you can press the guide button and shut off the controller from there..

or if you have them hooked up to the PC using that adaptor, you have to pull out the battery pack for a second and then pop it back in.
