I'm going to SouthEnd Brewery's (now called "Woods on South") party, because I've been for several years and it has never disappointed. It's $60 for open bar and hors d'oeuvres til midnight. Fairly dressy and a good crowd.

There are lots of great options for New Years in Charlotte. Here are some others:

Yeah, I'm just taking the light rail back in to uptown afterwards. They're running it late on New Year's Eve to save the drunks some cab fare.

probably just drink a couple bottles of champ to the face at a house party and try to stay off the cops' radar

I'm sure you can go to any bar practically uptown and have a good time if you go early and pay.

I've had more fun outside of uptown for New Years than inside, but that may just be me.

My advice: Don't go to Center City for the actual New Years...instead pick a party and stay there.

Was awesome. We stayed at the holiday inn center city. Went to alleycats and Bar. other friends went to cans. The light rail system in charlotte is one of the coolest things ever. I would recommend everyone trying it out.
