so far, i only found cbs in HD when i did the channel scan, anyone know how to get the other local channels in HD? 12/31/2007 8:54:50 PM |

pretty sure you can't get discovery HD anymore
all I've ever had were the locals, but at least football games never looked better
but I'm really hurtin for Discovery and the ESPNs in HD now that I've seen the grass on that side 12/31/2007 9:37:33 PM |

i'm not sure why/how this works, but in atlanta you also can see other people's tivo/in-demand stuff. you can see when someone pauses/fast fowards/etc. at night there's generally a couple movies and porn later at night (which i'm surprised they get away with). recently the simpsons movie and one of the pirates of caribbean have been the most popular. 1/1/2008 12:57:50 PM |

yeah, you can see on-demand stuff if you know the channels that they are using
they can't push channel authorizations to your box fast enough to make on-demand viable that way so they just let everyone be authorized for on-demand channels whether you ordered it or not
when you order an on-demand program TWC sends your box the frequency of the channel it assigned to you and that's the video you see
obviously other people can see it too if they tune to that channel, just not control it 1/1/2008 2:48:26 PM |

i live in wilmington
Vizio 42" lcd with Tuner: Integrated NTSC/ATSC/QAM HDTV Tuner
how do i get hdtv without contacting time warner i hooked up my tv via rg-6 to cable line and scanned for channels and got nothing (via antenna and cable options)
i have a pole on my roof to attach an antenna to and a cable line ran inside the house from it... should I buy an hdtv antenna from somewhere to mount there and then hook it up to my tv and browse channels by the antenna?

sure - except don't get an "hdtv antenna". just get a normal UHF antenna, or if you're in a good location, you can even just use bunny ears or a small inside antenna.1/1/2008 5:38:49 PM |

i'm not picking up NBC though and it's just as far away from me as all the others i'm picking up.
Any way to manually change a digital channel on a tv? 1/1/2008 10:02:13 PM |

Manually change? You mean like type in the # of the channel? On my set you type #, enter, #. The enter inserts the - for you.
I have a set of amplified rabbit ears in my living room and I get UNC-TV, CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, Univision, CW, and MyRDC all over the air digital. 1/1/2008 10:12:26 PM |

what? the channel-frequencies are fixed from the broadcaster. nothing you can do abuot it at the TV
according to http://antennaweb.org/aw/Stations.aspx (you'll have to re-enter your address - i just put in Wilmington) PBS and NBC are on the same bearing at 299° @ 17.5mi. ABC - 252° @ 16mi FOX - 125° @ 1mi
so, you will probably pick up FOX no matter where you point your antenna, because it is so close, but to get ABC and NBC clearly, you might have to adjust the antenna when changing channels 1/1/2008 10:16:56 PM |

Anyone know the numbers for the QAM channels you can get through TWC without having a cable box? I let my TV search for them last night for about 25 minutes (can take over a hour) and it found 10 of them. I'd like to just enter them instead of having to search for them. 1/2/2008 7:39:46 AM |

i think they're the same as the normal TWC cable lineup, so Standard cable up to ~75. may be wrong though 1/2/2008 8:12:26 AM |

just find someone that has an old antenna from the 50s. The old ugly ass ones people use to have before cable.
My mom just got a new HD TV and didn't have luck getting local channels with those small antennas you keep inside. She had an old ass antenna and I put it on the chimney, ran the line to the TV and she gets all the local HD channels.
and there is no such thing as a "hd antenna" its just a marking ploy.

I let my tv search for them. They are mostly the same as the OTA chans. Then you get some weird ass chans at like 98.15 and shit but meh, 30 chans and not using an antenna works for me! 1/2/2008 7:58:21 PM |

holy crap ^ WOW! I wish more than ever my TV had a built in tuner... watching standard def through the VCR on my nice TV is pretty silly but I can't afford cable(anymore) I find solace in the fact that the xbox 360 looks so pretty 1/19/2008 9:38:50 AM |
