On my way to VA, i saw a black BMW. I think it said "s300" or "5300" on the back

it was a wide and low looking car

looked to be mid/late 90's

can someone help me figure this out? I should've taken a picture, but i couldn't at the time.

oh, and the hood came down in between the headlights. similar to the old preludes. (1992)

I hadn't ever seen one before, but even the back looked pretty similar to a prelude tail lights (~1997 tails)

850 was the V12, 840 was the V8. Both are pretty sluggish (and automatic only iirc), but they're supposed to make a pretty good sport touring car.

you don't even need to be a car guru to know the famous 8-series, let alone a bmw guru.

^^^fwiw, unless the fenders have been changed that's a 73. the ducts/vents are distinctly different from the 68-72 cars. also, 73 had no chrome/metal front bumper, only the rear.

The 850 came in a manual transmission. I drove one...it was ....ehh...so-so. But i'd still rock the shit out of it because it's big pimpin'.

Some say the design hasn't aged well, but I'd still rock one. Those things were always among the elite of luxury/sports coupes.
