I've been looking around for a flash card for my DS but I can't find any consensus on which ones are the best/good/bad.
The basic functions I'd like are:
NDS support GBA support homebrew support
A decent gui would be nice too.
Anyone out there have any recommendations? 1/10/2008 10:29:20 AM |

Supposedly the best out right now is the CycloDS Evolution. They've got working save states implemented plus automatic DLDI patching. If I was buying one now, that's what I'd go with. Currently I have an M3 Simply/M3 Lite Combo. You're not gonna find one thing that plays both DS games and GBA games, I don't think. You will need a slot 1 device for the DS games and a slot 2 for the GBA games. ] 1/10/2008 10:39:49 AM |

will sell it to highest bidder 1/10/2008 10:52:27 AM |

what is dldi patching? i've read a lot of sites mention it but not really go in depth as to what it is 1/10/2008 11:34:00 AM |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS_homebrew
Quote : | "Due to the fact that there are so many different flash carts available for the NDS, and they all write to their flash card differently, a unified architecture was needed so programmers would not have to recompile their program for each flash cart that was released. A programmer called Chishm solved this by creating DLDI(Dynamically Linked Device Interface), which allowed users to "patch" homebrew with a cart-specific version of the patch" |
The CycloDS supposedly has automatic DLDI patching, so you never have to worry about it. It just works. They claim 100% homebrew compatibility.1/10/2008 1:38:03 PM |

I've ordered many things from divineo.com and never been unhappy with them. 1/10/2008 1:59:02 PM |

Yea, my only problem with ordering from them is that I'd have to order the memory card from a different place, but I guess I can suck it up. 1/10/2008 2:48:14 PM |

I'm sure it would be way cheaper to get a memory card elsewhere on the internets anyway. 1/10/2008 2:50:07 PM |

Do the memory card models make that much of a difference? I was reading a lot of stuff saying Japanese PNY memory was so much smoother for games etc. and was wondering if it really mattered? 1/10/2008 2:51:21 PM |

I honestly don't know. I know with Pro Duos for the PSP there can be a speed difference and some programs compatibility problems on the cheaper memory sticks, so I'd imagine it could be the same for the DS and the Micro SD cards. 1/10/2008 3:04:20 PM |

really? i've never had any problems with my memcard, but i also don't pick up memory sticks from my toilet either. 1/10/2008 3:05:44 PM |

My wife and I have the CycloDS Evolution for our DS and we love it.
Its so simple to use that she can change the games on it all the time herself. 10/19/2008 8:31:14 AM |

So is CycloDS still the best option? I'm looking at getting something along those lines pretty soon.
Any non-sketchy sites to buy them from? 10/19/2008 9:46:03 AM |

I still recommend divineo. It might be a little bit more expensive than the cheapest place you'll find, but I've ordered from them 10-12 times over the years and they always have quick shipping and haven't screwed up an order yet. 10/19/2008 5:12:46 PM |

That's where I got mine from. No complaints at all.
Though you may consider getting the GBA cartridge too so you can play both. I really itch for a GBA game every once in a while, though I can play most on my PSP or computer if i really want. 10/20/2008 10:06:39 AM |

I have a White CycloDS I am looking to sell.
Brand new... Never used.
Bought online from Real Hot Stuff..I Think.
they took forever to email me, so I ordered another thinking I would cancel. And they both showed up at my house on the same day.
Would sell it to you for 50. Just let me know. 10/20/2008 6:30:09 PM |

ALSO, anyone know how to get MLB power pros to work. It says it cant find a save and shuts down my DS. Its being a bitch, and I want to play a sports game. 10/20/2008 6:31:06 PM |

If you havent updated your cyclo ds evolution to the latest firmware, do so, it eliminates all those save not found issues (or at least did for me). 10/20/2008 8:10:56 PM |

So a while back I was placing an order for random stuff from dealextreme and I ran across this. I was actually looking to buy one of those microsdhc readers for ~$3, but I saw that they were included free with those dstt things, so I thought, why not, it's only an extra $3.
I got it in the mail today and this thing is pretty sweet. It's far better than the old M3 simply I have, and it looks to be as good if not better than the CycloDS Evolution my dad uses. So far it's played everything I've thrown at it including a couple of games that were a pain in the ass to get running on my M3. It plays all the homebrew I've tried too. For $7 (I got mine when it was $6, but it's still a heck of a deal) you really can't go wrong with this. Supposedly there are a lot of fakes of these being sold, and I'll admit for such a cheap price, I was a bit skeptical, but DX claims they personally check each one sold to see if it's a fake, and I checked this one, and it's legit. 12/19/2008 5:38:31 PM |

I've had my g6ds for at least a year and it's done great. had all the features you mentioned and cheat code support, plus the software on it is upgradeable.

just to add, i second the one nacho mentioned
although the site says it's the "fake" one, it works like a champ
on that page, there's a link to the "newer" one
i don't get it but whatever- the one i got works 1/5/2009 2:02:31 PM |

Yeah, I'm pretty sure those are the fake ones, but so far I've ordered 4 and had absolutely no issues at all except for the clicky mechanism in one of them broke and now it won't hold the memory card in. Still, not bad for $7. 1/5/2009 5:57:46 PM |
