uneducated guess - 20 feet at its deepest- looks man made so it wont be very deep

What did you drop in the pond?

My friend elijah worked there one of the times they drained it and said there was all kind of the randomest shit in it (including a handgun )

my boyfriend and i were at the park and were hypothesizing about how deep it was. i brought up the question if it would be deep enough to hide a body in... i'm one of those people that really does want to know completely useless trivia like that. and i am also one of those people that everyone gives the "wtf" look to when they see me paddleboating with a depthfinder and graph paper to map the depths of pullen park's creepy-ass pond.

yeah, i was thinking probably about 20 feet at the deepest part, but i'm also curious about the little loop that goes around where the bridge is. we threw a couple of shiny pennies in, but they disappeared after about 2 feet into the abyss of murky green water. we also found a 3 foot stick and tried to touch the bottom, but no luck with that either since the sides are sloped. i was considering getting a crappy tape measure and trying to touch the bottom, then attempt using geometry to finish the triangle, but that probably won't work with the deeper parts. i'm not really concerned with precision, as long as it's within a foot or so.

on a side note, when i was 4 (so 20 years ago), i used to go there and feed stale wonderbread to the giant fish. does anyone know when they either removed or killed the fish? they were cool, some of them had markings and i gave them names.

There are some big fish and big snakes that live in that pond

oh wow, there's still fish? every time i go, i can never find them. snakes i believe though!

there used to be a bunch of food-court druids that met in the bamboo thicket... they brought candles and sacrificed squirrels. i saw it with my own eyes and a witness, it was hilarious. we went back the next day and found a pentagram and a bunch of candle wax, along with a squirrel carcass and a burger king cup.

when i was younger I seem to remember the 'lake' being actually connected to the creek that goes by there. (topographically it should connect, but it has been diverted.) Does anyone know when did they changed it? (or if I am imagining things?)

its not 20ft deep at any point, I can almost guarantee you that. Most manmade minilakes like that never get deeper than 8-10 ft.

when I was really little, my mom used to take me to pullen park. I remember the water being clear enough to see through and watch the fish. I don't remember it being much more than 5' deep, but then again I was little then and might have been way off.

I think the dam broke after a flood many years ago. they might have diverted the creek then. the place has really turned into a dump over the last few years.

So, who is old enough (and lived in the Raleigh area) to remember when they had the outdoor public pool down by where you buy tickets for the rides?

^^hmm, didn't know they have a outdoor public pool. I know I used to go to pullen pool to swim, but that's an indoor pool, and it was only like 10 years ago.

I have a big hook that people told me was for recovering bodies when I was a kid.

It might not be for recovering bodies at all, but we could go drag it around out there and get some old shopping carts. Old shopping carts and bodies.

Wake GIS doesn't have elevations for the pond, but I can tell you it's not deep.

Oh, and...

So that's why there's that concrete deck-thing that always looked like it was stolen from a pool somewhere...I guess the pool was actually stolen from it.
