How are they finding your location on the iphone with software? are they using tower triangulation?

damn engadget's getting killed.

Google Maps Mobile announced the My Location feature a couple months ago, yes, using triangulation. It was just a matter of time before the iPhone version was available.

Other announcement so far: Time Capsule.
It's like an Airport Extreme (802.11n) with a HDD built in...... Too bad I just got an Airport Extreme for christmas. It's still lame you can't put a HDD behind a normal Airport and back up to it. Also wonder about the expandability of the Time Capsule

Meh the software did have development costs, and they do make stupid money off the iPhones compared to the iPods... but yeah it feels like they're trying to punish people who didn't go for the phone.

The movie rental thing makes me think of thos DIVX plays back in the day (not the codec.)

that $20 upgrade fee is bullshit.

how can they justify that charge if new iTouchs aren't $20 more expensive than they used to be? (seeing as they come with the new programs)

So software updates, movie rentals, and one new piece of hardware that stores backups?

Steve could have phoned this one in.

With the inclusion of mail in new iPod Touches, I bet you sales will skyrocket.

Should have had those features at launch, but oh well, I jailbroke mine. I guess I will pay the $20?

seriously, it's only been 6 months since the first iPhone. That just doesn't make sense, both from a marketing perspective, and technology-wise.

I was hoping for something about the Macbook Pros. 1) They're due for a whole makeover, or 2) at least a price drop or feature bump

I can't believe the air only has one usb port. And I thought the macbook only having 2 was bad. I also think it's weird that when you get a macbook you get a free remote but no Micro-DVI adapters, but with the Air, you have to pay $19 for a remote and you get Micro-DVI to DVI and Micro-DVI to VGA adapters included.
